Yes it should help get the heat to the heatsink better, but the bigger deal is getting the heat off the heatsink.Having a finned motor can, would putting thermal paste between a heat sink and the motor help heat move to the aluminum heat sink? Theoretically it would remove the air gaps between each fin and the heat sink
Yeah but that would not fill the gapsTry one of these under the heatsink, paired with a fan..less messy than paste ?

Why wouldn't it?Yeah but that would not fill the gaps
Yeah but it is highly malleable, sorta like playdough. It's just a sheet
Correct, works fine!Yeah but it is highly malleable, sorta like playdough.
Do you know the difference between with or without pad? Are we talking a noticable difference or just a couple degrees? I like the idea. Just curious how practical it is.
Correct. It fills in all the little cracks just like paste would but much easier to work with.Yeah but it is highly malleable, sorta like playdough.
I noticed a significant difference after I installed the pad and twin YR fans. Should have done it in steps now that I think of it and taken some more scientific measurements for our more discerning peers! ?I would be interested to know the heat difference with and without, I bought some of that thermal sheet a while back but never got round to using it...?
Sounds like reason enough to do another build! You’ve twisted my rubber arm! ??Yeah...so start over.. curious minds what to know lol
What a coincidence...?Ok as long as it is a kraton with the max 6 and a 4985 lol
What were you doing when It did? My setup only has about 10 packs through it and I noticed it is getting slightly warmer every time.My 4985 in redcat xbe seized up today, calling that in for warranty for sure
Oh I can't wait lol. That setup has so much torque. 16t and punch 1 is what I run. It will clock at 57 mph. It still gets kinda warmer then I would like... 170 on motor after a 5000mah pack . I am looking forward to the infoWhat a coincidence...?View attachment 59059
I run the Hobbywing C5 fan on mine with a 20t pinion, never cracks 120°FWhat were you doing when It did? My setup only has about 10 packs through it and I noticed it is getting slightly warmer every time.
