The Big Rock got some dress shoes………

Bought some street tires. Going to play with my fancy new GPS and wheel balancer while waiting on my Vendetta to be delivered .

Who knows why my pics post upside down? 🤣

I found the Banditos to be really good in winter. Little grip, full speed and turn without flipping on the Senton. In summer they have a lot of grip.

They feel decent. I wanted to stay 14 mm hex and something comparable in weight. I need to reset the front toe and try to balance the rig best I can, it is not a race car! Just want to tighten it up and have a little fun. See how fast I can get it to go, then I’ll sent it back up for off-road bashing.

Got out this am to run the Big Rock. This was my first “speed” run. I was surprised how fast 48 mph was with a 1/10 scale RC! I know it’s a piece of cake for the folks who do this a lot, but it was surprisingly intense.

I need more road. I ran out faster than I thought I would. Totally underestimated the distance needed. The truck was stable and ran cool. I should check the balance on the tires, go thru the diffs and all the bearings and go for 50+.

I need a lot more runs before I try to take my other rig to 100!

Update to this thread.......

Went back out to a new spot to run the Big Rock. Changes were the Banditos and a 18T pinion. Warm up run was 52 mph.

Then it all went wrong. Truck drifted right and I over corrected. Crash! Bent one rear wheel at the hub, plus I had forgot to reset the GPS!

Long story short, I was able to find small washers at ACE Hardware which fit perfectly in the center of the Duratax wheels. (PICS to follow) They spread the force of the wheel nut over a larger area. As the wheel was not cracked but only warped they also pulled it back into shape and it spun true. I added these to the other 3 wheels as a preventive measure.

Went to the park to try again, not enough time to go to the road from earlier.

Ran to runs 15 minutes apart at 53 mph. All I could get with this tire, pinion and battery combination. I know its not close to a record but its the fastest I run a RC vehicle and it was a BLAST!

Over all a comedy of errors for a Speed Run noob, but an adventure all the same!

I was going to ask what hex size you used but you answered my question 14mm original spec..looking at the size of the wheels I thought they were 17mm and I didn't see a 17 mm wheel lock screw that's why I was going to ask .
