Recently I have been scouring the internet for a new RC car for under £500 (Including a battery). I have narrowed my options to the Typhon 3s or Kraton 4s. Which one should I choose?

Sidenote: If anybody can think of a car and battery under £500 that I have not mentioned, I would be extremely grateful.

Many Thanks

@Zen ,
MT410 if you are comfortable with a quality Kit build. Just doesn't come cheap. I am sure you have a budget. I love my Tekno MT410. I run it on 4s. Is faster than my Notorous on 6s.
Regarding the Arrma 4x4 line, I would go with a 3s, not a 4s. Once you get to 4s 4x4 pricing, you might as well jump into an Arrma 6s platform, dollar for dollar. And I prefer an alloy chassis' over plastic 4x4 chassis, for bashing use.
Makes no sense to buy a 4s 4x4 for what their prices are. Look to what 6s Arrma pricing is, to see what I mean. For a few coins more, getting the better Value. Trying to save $30.-$50.+ more up front hurts your wallet in the long run.
Buy an Arrma 6s Platform, and run that on 4s if lipo size matters. I do this when I bash also. Any 6s electrics can be run on 3s and 4s as well as 6s packs. This will also future proof your RC investment. 6s line being slightly more durable, being the mature platform with many more upgrade possibilities/ options.
My 2 cents.
Good luck.
Enjoy RC.

Kinda depends where you at i guess. I went with the Kraton 4S that goes for €479. The 6S costs €659.

After another day of researching I have found the Corally Radix 1:8 XP 4s. Is this a good contender or should stick to the Typhon 3s/ Kraton 4s.

You will need the extra euros to "fix" much. Plan on getting the M2C "Fixed"motor mount and support. $70. right there.
But good luck. Enjoy your new RC.

Cool, sounds like a solid rig 👍 let us know how you get on
Getting it in about a month or so, I’ll update you then. In the meantime if anybody else has a suggestion it will be much appreciated.

I'm not so familiar with corally stuff, but I'm sure you'll have the usual advice about upgrading the a arms, bearings etc. But I'd say, wait till stuff breaks, and then think about whether the hop up is necessary or stick with stock.

Speaking of bearings I know this place so full kits for the python which is very handy.

The Corally 6s vehicles are a steal. I have a Radix6, and I love it. Out of the box it is a beast on 6s, but it is more controllable than an Arrma 6s. The only drawback to the Radix6 might be durability: the Arrma 6s can probably take higher jumps than the Corally without breaking, but I don't do big jumps. I was able to get my Radix6 for under $400 new, and that included $9.99 for FedEx shipping. Look for the sales at www.rchobbyexplosion.com.

I am based in the UK so this will not work. Thanks Though.

On Saturday, I am going to the local RC shop and going to buy the...

Kraton 4s 4x4 BLX 1:10.
I changed my mind. 😋 It's faster and bigger 😉 and I can race it at my local offroad club.

List of gear:
1. Arrma 1:10 Kraton 4X4 4S V2 BLX Speed Monster Truck RTR, Blue (C-ARA4408V2T2)
2. Sky RC XT60 to EC5 Adaptor (200mm) (SK-600023-16)
3. Centro 4S 6800mAh 14.8v 75C Hardcase Lipo EC5 (C5047EC5)
4. Etronix Powerpal Mini AC 6A 60W Balance Charger/Discharger (ET0204

All coming in at £543.26. I'll admit a little over £500 but for an extra £40 I think it is worth it?

What are your thoughts? I'll update when I get it. :) :)

Cool. 👍
Never easy to know what rig to buy as there's so many to choose from and depends so much on how you use it, kraton is a good all rounder for sure.

My only advise is to buy a more powerful charger. A 60w will take ages to charge the packs you're looking at.

6800 packs @ 1c = 6.8A
6.8A x 14.4v = 97w
So really you want at least 100w (per channel if you plan on getting more packs at a later date)

You’ll have to give us your review of the Kraton 4S once you get your hands on it. I think there are a fair amount of upgrades over something in the 3S line like the Big Rock, making it worth the additional cost.

One additional option to consider is the Typhon 6S. I grabbed one new for $400 when they were on sale and have been loving it. I also have the 3S, which is fun but cheap parts are always breaking on me (shock shafts, arms, etc). To remedy what I’ve found to be somewhat fragile 3S shocks, I threw on a set of the Typhon TLR shocks and it’s been noticeably better. The 6S version has been a tank, though, and is a blast even on 4S.

All that said, I keep looking at the 4S and 6S Kratons as well… 😂
