I bought a typhons 6s and loved it in its original format. I was at a hobby shop in mesa/Gilbert border and saw a spektrum speed pack combo 160A smart esc and a 1250kv motor that could handle 8s and could fit into my typhon. I've read and heard some say that I would have to stretch out the body with customizations and it wouldn't all fit. I'm putting this little bit about my experience with this situation up so that others who want to do the same but are not sure.

Welcome to the forum @Jphxsuns2021

It’s not that 8s conversions won’t fit within the confines of the stock chassis. The challenging part is, how do you fit two 4s packs under the stock body?

It works for sure although it is definitely a very tight awkward fit. Also the 8s battery can probably be turned side ways with some adjustments from what I've seen. This would then allow a possibly better fit for the body? The 8s I have is very compact still... I get the concern 😀.

How does it “work” without pins holding the body on?

I’m asking these questions because I’ve personally converted a 6s Typhon to 8s and know how difficult it is to pull off while getting the stock body to fit. You can’t just put a 75mm tall pack in the stock tray and call it a day. The body won’t fit.

Had to raise my body quite a bit to fit 2× 37mm tall packs...looks funny ,but works, created big opening in front, no blowover problems yet into the high 130s so far with this car

Nice typhon an 8s install...not sure if your familiar with grps..but in my experience the grps are WAY better than the hoons for traction and all around ripping...grps👍 hoons👎

GRP tires are best for speed runs. Stick like glue. Hoons suck big time specially the gold ones that Rio at 70mph.
Tried hoons 3 times on speedrun typhons.lost traction an crashed all 3 times.grps are cheaper, lighter, smaller, yet way better IMO
8S TPHONS ARE THE $HIT!!!!!!!!!!
