I'll come back later with posts on the earlier parts of the build, but since I'm currently working on her I figured I'd just start with where I am, which is fitting a front wing. The one I'm trying out here is a stock 1/16th e-revo wing

Just did a test run. I need to refine the mounting, but hot diggity darn did it make a difference in keeping the nose down!
I need to do something like this on my AK-787. Nose just wants to lift on acceleration, and no amount of downforce from the back helps. I honestly thing it’s more of a suspension issue (acceleration scrunching down those rear shocks, causing lift in the front. But I’m no physicist. And I’ve heard a front spoiler could help, tho, so why not? Seems to be doing the job for you!!!!

You might try some weights in the nose. I have 2oz of lead hidden under that front wing. That'll help more with accelerating from low speeds. For me, the front wing is more to counteract the aero at high speeds from the big 6s wing I stuck on the back

Some adhesive weights as far forward as feasible - like they use on pinewood derby cars, plus stiffer springs in the rear would help.

Thanks for the weight suggestions, guys!!!!

Tonight's project: headlights. The light bar I bought to tear apart for the purpose turned out to be a solid piece of aluminum, hence the little hacksaw. I also filled the buckets with sticky-tac to keep the reflectors from getting scratched by metal dust

The gold dots are where each bucket will go, 4 total

Pilot holes drilled. Managed to keep variations in placement under 0.25mm across all 4. So, about as accurate/symmetric as is physically possible with basic hand tools

Here's the finished product and a quick video. The front wing does a great job of both hiding and protecting the LED harness

how do you like the grom compared to the EMB T?
The grom has been a lot of fun to upgrade and go full ridiculous with. The EMB-T is the most durable car I've ever encountered, full stop. It took 6 years of bashing on 3s to break a single part. ~65mph, jumping over the roof of my house, etc. That said, my 4s Typhon grom is my current favorite car. Only thing is that I mow through axles running 4s. Just something you gotta accept when you overpower the hell out of things

Titanium skid plates! Time to throw some sparks

You’ve done a badass job man. Love your build. Very smart with that front wing to fix that light front end. I’ll see how my mods do but Somethin tells me I’m gonna go this direction. How did you like those knobbies? They’re off the mini Lodi monster truck right? I went with something closer to stock size, foamed (unlike stock) to give the front a little weight but still be close to see if it doesn’t rear axles and diff hubs. I can’t imagine it with 4S!

Yep, the knobbies are from the mini LMT. I use those for general bashing, and 3s Infraction belted hoons for street-only. You just need a 3d printed collar to adapt the 12mm hex to 14mm. The reason I like the mini LMT tires over, say Granite Grom tires, is that they have less lateral grip, which helps reduce rollovers, yet still hook up really well on the straight
