Amazon is having a sale on the blue/silver Typhon GROM 4x4 - brushed RTR

Good starting block for upgrades, or inexpensive RTR for kids.

Amazon is a big part of why local hobby shops are gone. If you are lucky you have a Hobby Town franchise... Shop independent or all we'll have left to choose from in this hobby are banggood knockoffs and (more) memories of what once was.

I totally agree! I give my local independent shop as much business as I can. They are family owned and operated, provide top notch service, and are cool people. They recently expanded their store and track. All because they have been great to deal with and have done so much for the local scene.

Case in point - they rent brushed 2wd arrmas and traxxas models and they had an issue with front control arms breaking on the vorteks and fury. With the curiosity of this issue and my fury carpet build, one of the employees and I came up with a solution on the spot to solve this with aftermarket parts not designed for the rig. I helped him select parts, we test fit and even dremel'd them a fuzz to fit and boom - a solution to their problem (out of commission rental trucks) and every other person with the same issue. How cool is that? Only a hobby shop that is into the sport, genuinely ready and willing to help their target audience/customers/demographic could and would do this. HH, amazon or any other big name aint gonna do that! That in itself is why i pay full price for parts at my local shop. The fact that they are there and gung-ho to git 'r' done is enough for me.

I do understand that not everyone is fortunate enough to have a hobby shop around, but to at least reach out to the closest ones and see if they can order things for you and ship. Building that relationship is important in keeping the hobby alive. Heck, I bet there's a store owner here on AF that would be happy to assist with making the sale and help later on with upgrade and replacement parts. Just gotta ask! Even if they aren't local, a hobby shop getting the coin to keep on helping you is worth more than feeding the beast that is amazon.
