Hi All

So just got finished upgrading my truggified typhon with m2c chassis with front and rear hinge pin sets. Problem is I am getting some seriously bad binding on rear arms against the chassis after hinge pin set install. See pics. Anyone else experience this? If so what can I do to fix this.

I also installed a hot racing gearbox in the rear. Could this be making things worse?

I’ve had bad rebound in rear shocks since I got this Typhon, tried different spring setups, 650 cst oil and none have helped. Now I have the binding issue with is just making things worse! Any suggestions to fix this issue too? The rear of this car is proving a pain in the rear! ?

Iv got the exact same setup on my kraton same skid plate chassis same pin set up mine was a bit tight when i first fitted it and was binding slightly .I loosened the pins a bit and the 2 screws on the pin holder that go in to the bulkhead only quarter of a turn the hinge pins should be free floating you probably see them turn as you compress the suspension if thay fitted right .iv got rpm a arms and thay are olso tight to the chassis i originally thought it was binding there but after loosening the pins it was much much better .after i put a couple of packs through it jumps etc every thing seemed to bed in now its fine. After a few more runs i will probably tighten everything if needed

Thanks. I’ve taken it apart again and loosened the pins slightly and it has helped a little but there is still a lot of binding. The arms now have grooves where the chassis has been rubbing, hopefully they will settle after a few runs as you say.

I installed the exact same setup on my notorious and had no issues.

When arms bind like that its a bent hinge pin in my experience. I've had very slight bends cause binding before. Also make sure the piece that bolts to the front of the gearbox, that captures the front of the hinge pins is in the right place firmly. Did everything line up correctly between the chassis and gearbox?

The pins are definitely not bent, took them out and checked again. The pin at the rear of the car is definitely sitting lower then the one facing the inside of the buggy. Checked the screws and it appears to be attached correctly. The pins are pointing downwards towards back creating the issue with the arm and the chassis. So annoying.

if I push down in the shocks the car just won’t Rebound to the original position so the binding is causing issues. Actually thinking of removing the set now and going back to stock.

I see how it sits lower. Its annoying when aftermarket parts that are supposed to be an upgrade create new issues. If it frees up when you go back to stock then you know for sure that was it

So I gave up with the m2c rear pin pack. Just would not sit right on the 6s Typhon with m2c chassis. Even tried taking it all apart for about the 5th time and even changed the gearbox back to stock from my Hot racing part, made no difference. As mentioned above I installed the same parts at same time on my Notorious with no issues, it just doesn’t seem to work with the Typhon, would not recommend it.

Instead, I have installed custom rc upgrades (CRCU) rear hinge pin set and it has fixed the issue. What a difference!! Used upgraded m2c hardened steel hinge pin with the crcu set. No binding on rear arms and suspension can move and rebound as it should. ???
