Hi All,

Looking for some tuning tips for a Typhon on speed run stance. I was thinking about Kraton hubs, hexes, and axles to widen it a bit. Any thoughts?

I did that to mine, but you'll need to get some longer linkage arms for the steering, or else the stock ones will be screwed out almost to their ends.

Are they that unstable at speed that you want to increase your drag? I’m considering going to other way and putting sct arms etc on.

I just figured that the wider stance would provide added stability even if turning suffered.

Well turning suffering isn’t the concern- top speed suffering is.

Anything you do to increase frontal area, increased drag coefficient is detrimental to your speed run goals.

I’m looking for more narrow high speed wheels for the front, and may purchase the senton front end pieces.

Not a lot of turning really necessary with speed runs. ;)

Stability wise it is a very stable platform to begin with especially when suitably lowered with firmed up suspension components/fluids etc.

I've already linked my thread which hopefully will give you some ideas on/for set ups/parts etc but here are some other threads to read through for inspiration/ideas when you've time;

I agree with your philosophy. I'm in Manhattan, so for me it's more about the control and stability rather than trying to squeeze out a few more miles per hour on the top end. when I do my speedruns it tends to be very early in the morning before the runners overtake Central Park.

It's either that or I'm on some of the internal park roads the city workers use, which have some decent straightaways.

Given where I'm testing, I'm not pushing 100 miles an hour. My whole thing is I want to be able to slam on the brakes, and have the car well planted.

Thanks brother much appreciated!

My Typhon suspension is totally stock on my V3 except for tekno orange springs and 40wt oil. Slammed it with camber and some toe in. Just ran it on the pavement with 6s and bandito tires. It was raining and still stuck to the road! Not even sliding. Worked great ?

Great to know. I've got the banditos, but need to wrap them a bit because they balloon at 6s. Maybe you can help me with another question. I only get the Central Park once a week and don't really get to test in both environments simultaneously, but I bought a hobbywing xr8 plus and a hobbystar 2400KV motor. If I'm doing a mix of bashing off road and road running on the same day, would you say an 18 tooth pinion is the Sweet spot here? I've got a 20 tooth laying around as well, I wasn't sure if that was a bit much for off road.

You'll probably get pretty hot bashing at that high tooth count. With that kv I would keep it at 16 for all around. 18 is going to be plenty fast on road. 20 is going to scream.
