Man, just got my Typhon and the front tires ballooned so much the foam came out and they ripped from the rim. Is there a tire out there that can handle the power? I don't want to have to buy tires every week. I was off reading it in my yard.
IMHO, tire choices are one of the biggest drawbacks of the Typhon on 6s. There are truggy tires and MT tires that can work on 6s power, but for buggy and SCT tires, there just aren't any choices for offroad (that I know of) that will last.
If you want to stay on-road, there are belted road tires that work, but offroad, you are kind of SOL.
Not a typhon but I have a senton with a set of SC lockup’s. It’s held up great. They stretch huge. It grinds against the body when ballooning. I put 1M in the center diff. It made a dramatic difference. I do have 2 small cuts in the sidewall of one tire. It hasn’t got any worse so far. I’m not geared up to 60mph. Prob closer to 50. Body parachutes and it tries to lift off.Im using proline badlands, hobbywing max 8 combo 6s 65c all the time its running around 62mph offroad. Im on the same set of badlands and have had np at all with them
Can you tell me more of what you did to fit those?Once the badlands went on, the rest is history. So far so good.
Stock setup is f/r 7k cst and center 100k cstHowdy and Welcome!
To get more power to the back wheels, you can change the center diff to a thicker oil. Stock is 10k, I think. I run 125k in my Typhon.
Also, you will soon want better tires - the stock tires are a bit hard, and don't grip well. Lots of people will swap to something like the Proline Badlands, or Duratrax Lockups. I have some lockups, they really "Lock up" in grass cutting trenches in my lawn. The car scoots, though.
