Typhon Typhon V4 build

Hey hey,

Meet my typhon, she was my first arrma and she is my favorite.


Max 8 combo (2200 kv 4274)
Futaba 3pv rx+tx
Arrma stock servo

Love the adjustability of the HW esc’s, these tend to have a bit more punch than the stock blx units as well.

I haven’t noticed a need to replace the servo yet, it’s performing ok on this platform, any of my other arrma’s I had to get rid of them right away. I have some of the cheapo eBay red cased 20/25kg servos that work better than the stock arrma ones. I have some of the zooskay ones on the way I’ve heard people get good results with those. I put a power hobby all aluminum cased unit in my v4 kraton. I’m very impressed with that one. If these inexpensive 35kg ones don’t do the trick I see some more of the powerhobby servo’s in my future for my other rigs..

Anyone have favorite setups? I drive on grass, pavement, small jumps so far only cause I’m still learning ha. No thick mud or anything and only the occasional light misting of cement.


Did a custom body just for kicks. It turned out pretty good. If only I had done a bit better in the lines ...

I’ve got some hot racing parts on the shelf for this one I will try and get some install pics and installed pics up soon. While I’m in there I might do some diff fluid changes. I’d like to see less ballooning on the front tires..

I also picked up a set of hoons just for sh!t’s and giggles to see if the thing could get sideways a bit... yea not so much... I noticed when the ground was damp it kicked it out a bit...

Oooook, well I ended up putting my skyRC TORO 1650KV motor in the typhon. It’s a little bit shorter but it seems a bit fatter. It is extremely smooth operating. Very smooth on the throttle I can creep along even with an 18t pinion. It had 4mm bullets I had put on it so a re-wire was in order...

Temps also stayed pretty good, even after a few “speed runs” in my neighborhood with mx28’s lol... ( not much of a speed run /or cement tire ??‍)

Hey everyone,

I did some work to the typhon tonight..

I had been running one of the sky RC toro 1650 kv motors in it and I wasn’t impressed with its performance.

Also, the max8 combo was doing something funny in my talion and I wanted to do some testing to see if it would perform any better in a lighter chassis with smaller tires... I had geared down and it was a little better but it was still not quite spot on like I wanted. So I’ll do some testing with it in the typhon and see how she does.

The talion got a different max8 and a stock blx..

Took the typhon out for some testing... it’s running fantastic... other than getting a little warm. I need to install a fan on this thing ASAP. Here is a link to a quick testing vid.

Ok, update...

I have a few parts that’ll be going on this thing in the next week or two.

I have on the wall:
Front and rear chassis braces

In the mail:
Exb F&R shock towers
EXB front captured hinge pins

Also wanna get a new body to try and make it look more exb ish... I really love the black/greyscale look of the new exb. Gonna try and make my own exb lineup before arrma gets to it ??

I didn’t, they balloon a bit but I just throttle down and be mindful of it.
