Typhon V4 shock upgrade?!

Is there a better shock available to replace the stock V4 ones?

Odd length to go to but I removing most of the red off my build so the options are de-anodising the stock or replace so looking at both avenues.

Replacement wise I’d like it to be an exact fit.

Ideas/options?

The Arrma shocks are pretty good. If you want better shocks, you will need to buy a set from a race grade chassis. A while back, folks were swapping to Tekno shocks (pre-v3) but the shop that was kit breaking stopped, so now Tekno are silly expensive again.

If you mostly just don't want red, then just de-anodize them. Several threads here on how to do it.

Thanks and yes seen prior to V3 Tekno was the way most went!

Pretty well reversed with removing anodising but wanted to look into other alternatives.

Seen a few Typhon’s running Serpent shock set ups?!

They came stock with my Hot Bodies D8T and they are smooth as butter. I would say almost as good as the Teknos.

Installed serpent cobra gt 3.1 shocks, lower shock mount extensions, and standoffs. Not cheap at just over $140. Little different setup on my typhon gt8 build. I have deanodized plenty of parts as well.

That Serpent set up does look very nice, but yeah running stock height towers they look too short, especially spring length.

So after some reading into it are the stock V4 shocks really that good? Some feedback is the Tekno isn’t much of an upgrade if any?

My build is for road racing so don’t require as much travel as a typical basher/jumper but don’t want it speed run solid!

Are all the Arrma V4 shocks red? Or is there another colour option I can nab off another model?

What is the purpose of the extensions on the the GT build Joostin420?

Wonder if there’s another Serpent shock option I can look into around the correct length!

With stock towers the serpent springs will be too short. Not to say that you could not just switch the springs since the shock shafts are regular length.

I used the Serpent lower extension mounts in order to widen the suspension to decrease body roll and increase shock angles to stiffen. This was important to me since my chassis design seats the batteries out to the sides of the chassis for balance.
