I have a dumbo rc 6 channel rx/tx and I would like to be able to just turn my headlights on and off with a button on the transmitter. When I plug in the lights to a free slot in the receiver there is just constant power to the lights and I can't turn them on and off. Is there something I need or something I'm doing wrong?

You need a relay.

Grab this [CA$14.53 14% OFF]DumboRC X6 Receiver+LED Light DIY System RC Car Parts RC Parts from Toys Hobbies and Robot on banggood https://banggood.app.link/xOIKJsLDE9

Headlights, brake lights, and 4 blue LEDs with the Dumbo X6 receiver. LEDs plug in separately from the 6 channels with no other parts required. Not sure if you can turn them on and off. You could instead plug them into any of the 6 channels but you still need the part above if you plug them into the channels instead.

Thank you. Damn I thought I was done ordering parts lol
Psh you are never done ordering parts. I have shopping carts spread out across like 8 different places with parts I either need or want lol.

I like this simple Apex switch/relay thing from Amazon, I've got two of them and they work great. I like them for the additional bonus that the solder pads are easy access and solder so I can change the connector leads to the lights to whatever I need if the lights bring used have a different connector type than what it comes with.

okay I got another question, say I want/need to hook up the headlights to a bec for 12v power (headlights don't power up at reciever voltage). Can I use the receiver (with a controller or somthing) to act like a switch and just turn the lights on and off? My noto is easy and will go direct into the receiver with the controler but my power shift light kit I bought for the kraton does not power up until after 7.4 volts and doesn't get bright until closer to 12v. Anything I can do to make the receiver turn them on and off with a button on the transmitter?

I’ve got 2 of these in my cart for my scx24’s. Good to know they work well.
