Arrma RC's
  1. Kraton 6s
I have had this car for a little over 2 years. She initially went through some quick upgrades as parts broke, or bent (chassis) and has been holding up pretty well. But during some desert bashing the front diff housing bolts pulled out, all the fans crapped out and the slight click from the rear diff became louder and is no longer ignorable. I have decided on a complete teardown, clean, inspect and replace.

This is an older (before) pic. I love the Bug body and will be ordering another from ebay....not too stoked on how the paint job on the JC concepts BAJR came out. More on that later.

Tonights order of business are the front arms, bearings and pivot balls that were all pretty grimy.

Cleaned, lubed and topped off. One of the front shocks was just a tad low. No, I don't have 50w all around in the shocks, its just what I had on hand to top off. Mostly 80w.

Onto the rear arms, hubs, pins and shocks. Never a good sign when you need a punch and hammer to get them to budge. Source of the click was a dozen teeth on the ring gear being rounded off. Diff rebuilds up next with HR steel helical ring and pinion going in.

Savox servo, HR mount, HR arm with stock bell crank and stock top plate cleaned and reinstalled. Other than the weak stock servo, I haven't had any other issues with the Kratons steering. I tried the GPM turnbuckle up front but found the car pushed too much diving into corners so I went back to stock and run the GPM turnbuckles out back.

Getting the diffs done, found 2 broken pins under the sun gears. Everything else looks pretty good but I will be replacing planetary and sun gears, as well as the worn outdrive cups. Hot Racing steel helical ring and pinion installed. Seems to be some mixed reviews on the HR gears so we will see how they hold up. 60-500-60 is my go to for bash racing in the desert. How about you guys?

Some older pics of the JC body that I'm running and the trimming I had done. Roof scoop is functional and I cut heat vents in the rear.

Motor installed with the 16T, amazon Crazypony dual fans on a Powerhobby heatsink with ebay 3D printed shrouds. I had to take a file to the fans to get them to fit and the screws to line up. The Powerhobby supplied fans didnt even line up. All wires wrapped in heat shrink tubing and zip tied out of the way.

TBone front bumper definitely looks 💪. Trying out an RPM front bumper as a rear bumper/wheelie bar/rear skid. I may do some trimming and reshaping with a heat gun. Not a 100% set on it yet. Also, the TBone rear mud/rock guards are stout and seem to beef up the rear arms with the mounting block.
