More progress on the nitro 3: got the steering assembly connected, carbon upper deck installed and body posts cut and positioned.

I also added a brand new fuel tank from a Kyosho as it’s impossible to find the original HPI tank anymore. For those curious here’s the part number

As you can see it’s a perfect fit

I got the body height and suspension height adjusted, the wheel arches needed very slight trimming but it fits perfect

The rear sits a little higher but when the engine, gears, electronics and battery pack are put in it should level out

Disassembled the CVEC and cleaned it up, installed the spring and piston and then hit it with a single stage polish just to hide some of the scratches

Alloy diff mounts ready to go in

I don’t know why they came with so many screws, I’m not a fan of the black oxide coating so I’m sticking with the factory stainless screws

All buttoned up, ignore the dusty chassis I have to air dust this whole car

I can safely say this Schumacher build is complete, there’s nothing left to upgrade afaik and I did the main things I wanted to do to it like throw in a new Picco .28 with the optional high speed gearing which, funny enough, they don’t specify the top speed with the bigger gears. I also put in a brand new radio box and never mentioned it here, the old had a small cut in it and I didn’t like that. I also cleaned up and trimmed the body without showing that here.

I believe I now have one of the rarest Fusions just due to the amount of factory upgrades and the overall condition (new). I haven’t seen many others with these alloy parts, though the car is seriously heavy now. Much of the weight is due to the big block Picco but the alloy upgrades didn’t help lol

Edit:

I decided to add new fuel lines and polish up the carb inlet to a mirror finish

Edit 2:

I hit the tuned pipe with some polish while I was at it

Man, that is sharp. That Picco will make it fly. You going to run it, or shelf it? I'd have to run it at least once. Lol.

Shelf it for sure. I get more enjoyment finding parts and building it than I do running them atm. If I were to run a nitro I’d buy a cheap Chinese knockoff

So a while ago I bought a RS4 3 drift as a future project build. This is how it looked when I got it:

I quickly slapped on some new wheels and a new S13 body and put it in storage for later

I started collecting parts to restore it

Today I picked up another Nitro drift, this one needs work as well but it was a deal I couldn’t pass up

Now I have to decide which one to fully restore, I’m not confident I’ll be able to locate another NIP chassis plate and cannot find any aftermarket alternatives. I could however convert it to a standard Nitro 3

I’m also considering putting on this Silvia body

Still waiting on my new crankshaft so I can’t assemble the engine just yet, but I did install it for mock-up purposes. Got a vintage air filter for it and a new pressure fitting kit for the cvec pipe

I found a new original cvec coupler and thought it would look good

Got some new servos installed and a MST servo saver

Electronics all hooked up

With the engine and pipe mocked up I was able to cut a hole for the exhaust

And a hole for the engine to breathe

Getting so close to finishing it 😬

I acquired another RS4 3 for cheap, came with a 15fe with no compression. So far all I did was put on some new wheels and a body for it. This will be a project for another time

I took the time to mount the pickup body on my other Schumacher. It always feels risky cutting into a new vintage body shell

Came out decent just needs some minor touching up but it’s on the chassis now and I dig the clear look. I’ll be keeping these new wheels on it for now

Rebuilt the 2 speed, I found a NIP 2nd gear (mine was stripped) and put on a new brake disk

I ordered a new crankshaft a month ago and it never arrived so I’m trying to get my money back. This is taking way too long
