Arrma RC's
  1. Kraton EXB
Ordered a ring and input gear set from the Vitavon ebay store for the rear diff on my Kraton EXB. While installing it I noticed the lettering on it is a bit funky. The part that is supposed to say '29mm EXB' says '29mm EBX' and is inverted compared to all other pictures I've seen of it. A google search for ' Vitavon "EBX"' turns up nothing. I figured with the size, rating and using the companies name as the store name it's legitimate, right? Maybe they updated the lettering and it got screwed up or I got a fake?

Where I ordered.

Dang! I understand the frustration, especially with how much these parts cost. That link appears to be the correct eBay store as I’ve ordered from them a couple times myself. I would recommend emailing them, they do have pretty good customer service. If you want a response sooner, try messaging Arthur on Facebook messenger

That looks to be the legit storefront. Probably a mistake made when programming the laser etching for this specific batch, but I would definitely reach out to them.

You did buy it off the official Vitavon eBay store, right? I just checked mine and they are printed correctly.

If all dimensions are spot-on and they fit the diff cup, then it’s simply an error in printing. Check pinion depth, set backlash and send it.

I'm pretty sure that's their official ebay store. I emailed them and I'm 98% sure it's legit to the point I just filled the diff and I am continuing my rebuild. Currently I'm figuring they changed the letting for a new batch and messed up, but keep thinking if it was a batch error then the google search means I'm the first to notice and care enough to post.

You can just say you think less of them cause they're from China.

Yet all of Arrmas car parts are from China. Most our stuff is from China. Crapping on Chinese parts hasn't been reasonable for a while now.
I’m sorry, any other feelings I should tip toe around?

Your both just jelly of my fancy one of a kind Kraton EBX.

They got back to me and said it's a printing error.

This just took a twist. The input gear seemed to need a lot of shimming when installed. I didn't think much of it until it exploded today. Taking a closer look at it they sent me the gear set for a Traxxas sledge that was labeled EBX.

Edit: So it's too small to be the Sledge gear and I'm a dummy on that one.

Has anyone else bought this gear set? Every picture I've found of the set shows that the spiral angle of the gear is close to or the same as the Arrma GP4 gear. I can't find any picture or video of the gear that isn't the stock Vitavon photo. The one I received has a much steeper spiral angle. In the picture the Vitavon is on the left and the GP4 is on the right. As you can see the GP4 has and almost 0 degree initial angle and the Vitavon has an initial angle of 15+degrees.

I don't know about this one.
I was breaking too many diff gears to continue buying stock Arrma, so now i have two Mojaves, all fitted with GPM 9t/39t gear sets and they are doing great so far.
They haven't stripped yet, because the teeth are bigger. They are (almost?) straight cut, so a bit more noisy, though.

Very true , what isn't made in China lol.

I never really had a problem with breaking the stock gears. My previous GP4 input gear died due to a failing bearing and didn't fail nearly a catastrophically as these one. I figured why not grab a better set as it was only a couple of bucks more and they would last forever.

The GPM ones look nice especially as they give you a larger module, but it looks like they're only for the 31mm diffs.

I have a GP4 gear set in now and every thing seems fine. Increasing the spiral angle of a gear make the middle and tips of the teeth thinner along with decreasing the mesh tolerance. Wonder if that is what helped it blow out. If this spiral cut is correct they really need to update the images they have on their website, e-bay, etc...
