I have read through the sticky and also different posts. Still…

What have y’all, if anyone has, tried for upgraded front shocks on the Vorteks? I threw a set of 6s shocks on the rear a while back and they are great but I don’t want to do those short infraction 6s shocks for the front. They are pricy and I’m avoiding pricy right now. The stock front shocks work decently, but they’re getting tired. They also work good on the rear of the 2wd voltage so onto a new life.

So, what has been tried for the front recently? I know there is a set recommended on the sticky that I can pick up from jennys for 20 bucks. I’m curious if anybody is experimenting with anything and had any luck?

Guess I’m trying to practice ‘asking questions before I pull trigger’ here.
Thanks 🙃

Yes that’s the one I was referring to. I’m on the waiting list so meanwhile…
Other than that maybe the Traxxas GTRs I have them on my Slashpeded 4x4 and they are really nice.

^^^Nice shocks, nice find. Losi shocks are regarded well in general. Price is right.

It looks like there is still a wait list for these 3 months later. Did you ever get notified they were available since you got on the wait list?
I'm slowly learning as stuff breaks but I haven't dealt with shocks. I have a front one that's sticky so maybe it just needs some fluid?

I'm assuming the rear shocks will also work on vorteks for rear?

I didn’t like the Losi shocks for the front, way to light. I threw on granite front shock tower and Mojave 6s front shocks, Kraton front shocks are still on the rear. Stock springs are fine really. I threw the losi shocks on the rear of a 2wd drive voltage and they were good for that.

The way jennys works Is they will sometimes only get one or two cars. So the waitlist notification did go out for 1 available and I snapped up quick.

I have often found when a shock is a bit sticky it’s because the shaft is slightly bent so it no longer slides smoothly. Could be other things though. But I’ve never had to deal with this or any issues with any of the 6S shocks that I put on my four cars. They have been bomb proof for me.

I Appreciate the response. I think something is bent on the shock. I need to look more into it. I did just purchase some pro line shocks for my son's granite based on other posts as he completely broke one of his. I may try something similar for my vorteks.

Proline are supposed to be fantastic…they just cost so much.

And at that is it even worth it on a 3s line? On a basher? No way. My wayyy too long zds are great for ground bashing. And I'm sure the kraton/mojave set up is just great enough for every thing. Lol
If I had a Vortex I would try some Traxxas GTR shocks with VG Racing black springs.

They do come with oil but I am pretty sure it is only 30wt. I would probably start around 40ish depending on what other mods(ie added weight) there are.

I am going to go with this setup on my Ecx Ruckus and Stampede 2wd.

I have the GTRs with the VG Racing blue springs on my Slashpede 4x4 I started with 40wt but I feel it needs thicker oil as I have some added weight on mine compared to stock.

Ive ended at 60wt in the BR. It was more or less to sit the truck up due to not being able to find track ready spacious bmx dirt fields to run in. And couldnt keep the nose of the truck up. Even learning to drive a bit better I still like the 60wt but now it will flex to compensate without flexing too much nor will it bounce me out of my line.

But if I had a Vortex id do what u said ☝ there lmao

Ever since I put a granite front shock tower on the Vorteks, threw on a set of Mojave front 6s shocks to match the set on the back, installed typhon arms and granite stock tires…It has become my favorite car along with my granite. It is a blast to drive, I mean incredibly fun! I ran it at the skate park last week for the first time and was extremely happy. I’ve got a firma 130 esc to put in it next and I’m thinking about a 4068, 2050kv (or so) motor eventually.
