I have a felony and i just installed the castle mamba 8s with the 1717/1650 kv motor. I'm running stock spur and 23t pinion. It ran faster with the stock spektrum stuff. Just doesn't seem to have that rip and rpm. Just curious to what setup works.
Also I'm using b link and my phone, any help would be appreciated.

Look at the B-Link settings and check your Punch Control. It’s kinda weird with Castle cause it’s seems backward how they have it set up. You might want to try 0% which means you’re actually getting ALL the punch. You can do a motor test too and adjust the Torque Control which lets you fine tune torque even more. I think the stock settings on the MMX8S have timing at 10. You can play with that too but I wouldn’t go above 12 or 13 cause the motor will heat up faster the more timing you put in. You can increase your Start Power too which is usually Low. If you use good batteries you can try Medium or even High to give an extra push at takeoff. Also calibrate your controller to make sure you get full throttle, reverse and the proper idle settings too. There’s a couple more things you can try but I’d do one or more of these first.

if you had the same pinion with the stock motor you need at least a 27t pinion to match the stock motor on a 23 pinion. Kv difference is large

Will do thanks

Had nothing but trouble with my castle and now cogging and no beeps just lights. Called castle and went through everything ( had a b link but I ended buying the castle link and a lap top to go through the graf with the castle tech) Well to make a long story short motor and esc are on there way back to castle to get check and repaired that's why I'm running my stock stuff.
