Which included some Arrma optional bling parts. I've yet to order the optional red motor plate.

I have more orders on the way and still have more to order but I should be able to start cleaning and assembling soon.

Is there going to be anything original left? :p
Surprisingly yes. The chassis trusses, steering, motor, esc, the bigger plastics inside the chassis trusses, diff cup and the gearbox gears. And umm, yer that's about it. I want to restore it to or close to near new condition. 🤷‍♂️

I couldn't justify spending $30 - $40AUD on postage for $4 slipper clutch pads. So I'm making my own. Using Garlock compressed fiber gasket sheet. It seems to be similar to what the og pads are made of and roughly the same thickness.

Found I had enough parts to start building the front assembly and here it is.

Unfortunately when removing the steering found one of the metal posts is broken and I can only find one and its in the US so that's going to hold up the build a little. It's not cheap.

Cleaning parts today. I'd do some more assembling but I've used up all my M3 button head screws so I'll have to go visit a fastener shop tomorrow.

So I've done about as much as I can for now. Waiting for the diff rebuild kit and screws to arrive. I need to rebuild the diff first as it goes inside the gearbox.

I still need to order dogbones, hex pins, steering posts, rear turnbuckles(old ones too corroded), esc fan and motor plate.

Most of the black screws had surface rust on the heads so I'm replacing them all. I've also ordered stainless steel screws for the chassis trusses as I think they will look better. Have ordered screw packs of 100 from a fastener shop as its better value than ordering a few at a time of ebay like I have been.

Here's some photos of the progress.

25kg servo may be overkill for this but the old servo was really really slow. This one was fast enough for the bigrock so should be ok.

New bearings throughout.

All 4 shocks rebuilt. New bodies, seals and caps. Springs cleaned up good enough to reuse.

Ordered more parts that are holding up the build. Including the optional red anodised alloy motor mount plate. Bling bling 😆. Also steering posts, hex pins, rear dogbones, pivot balls, ball studs, pinions, turnbuckles and that's about it.

Still haven't found wheels for it yet. May just run something off my shelf for now.

Found an Arrma optional aluminum rear tower brace. Must be the only one left in Australia. Ordered it straight away.

You have been so lucky finding parts. (y)
Yes I think I have too. Just haven't found the og wheels yet.

I've also found hobby shops I never knew existed including a new local(2 hours away) which is good as I just found out (sorry, I've got to get this off my chest) my commonly used local HS has not been adding my loyalty points. I've spent thousands of dollars there and I have even paid more buying from them just to gain the points and to support local. When questioned they were very blasé about it too. They didn't even try to offer a solution. 😡 I'm quite pissed off about it. Is that what you get for being loyal and supporting local these days.
Rant over.

Shows how much they value your business. Our local Hobby Town was like that they finally went under. We have a new Hobby Town now, so far so good.

Would be handy if we had a closer local HS. The only one around us closed years ago. 99% of my RC shopping is done online.

The diff maintenance kit arrived so time to rebuild the diff and gearbox.

Easy to see how worn the sun gears are when compared to a new one.

10,000cst in diff which is what Arrma recommends .

I'm really impressed with the diff. It's well designed and very solid. The housing/cup is metal, not alloy or plastic like most. Each outdrive has 2 orings. One behind the shims like most are and the another is recessed in the outdrive to seal in the housing (refer to photo below). It's like having a backup or dust seal. All internal diff gears are shimmed too.

There's zero unwanted side or vertical movement in the outdrives and smooth rotation. Very nice. Thats how diff should be made.

All assembled with new diff gears, seals, hardware, bearings, gearbox plastic case, 10k diff oil and synthetic grease inside gearbox.

You gotta be gettin' close now.
Yep. I've got to solder 4mm bullets to the esc-motor wires at a 90deg so they don't foul on the body. Waiting on a new esc fan to arrive. It's a 25x25x7mm and I couldn't find one locally. Most are 25x25x10. It's on its way from China on the slow boat. I have also ordered an over priced plastic parts tree from the US just for the one part from it. Again there was nothing local.

Motor, red motor plate, spur, pinion and slipper in situ.
