Anyone ever have issues with Tamia rattle cans? I know a lot of you swear by the PS paint.
I was really looking forward to painting up a new body for the Mojo Grom, but the gold attacked the black. Sprayed the black first, then gold stripes. Just turned into a smeared looking mess. Second body I have done with rattle cans, first one was Duratrax (not a fan), this one Tamia. I have always airbrushed my paint jobs, and have used the Proline water based paints for several years on many bodies with no issues. I am certainly no stranger to paint.

What are y'alls go to brands?

Rustolium.

Don't recommend.
There is a reason I run prepainted rtr bodies. Maybe after a few more years in the hobby I'll get into painting. Going on 30 years strong so should be anytime now I get interested.

This is some ace hardware "paint your outdoor furniture" paint. Thats all i had! :ROFLMAO:

I'm about to use Spaz Stix on a couple of bodies. We'll see how good it is. 🤞

If I remember correctly, it was a Rustolium brand furniture paint.

For the record, it did not hold up well at all. DO NOT use any-ol spray paint. hahaha

Must not be the same, because though it looked good in the pictures, it did not do so well.

Mines holding up great on that truck and looked great in person. But it's an scx24 so the body doesn't take big hits or get flexed. 😂

Mine looked good for quite a while as I would switch bodies when I ran my rig.
But the second I did run it, it was chip and peel happy. :ROFLMAO:

I used duratrax on my Tamiya, total blasphemy.

The 2025 Arrma ROTY used Spax Stix
It could have burst into flames! 😂
You did a beautiful job on that rig, it looks fantastic.
What is ROTY? Was this a Rig of the Year on RCTalk or something? I didn’t know they did that. And how could it be for 2025 if it’s only April, did you mean 2024?
At any rate, that’s one great looking buggy.

I just remembered that I used Duratrax on my LGRP mini crawler, body totally cracked up. The other body I used the Duratrax on was my Talion, that body cracked apart after one time out. Makes me think that the solvents in the rattle can options are much too harsh for lexan rc bodies? I am about to drop 100 bucks into a body for my Mojave project, and I will definitely be using Proline and airbrush it.
I do have another body ready to paint for my mini Mojo, maybe I will check out the Spax Stix 🤔

@Xjeepguy where did you snag the T. A. Screaming eagle!!! I have a boat that would look incredible on a boat I have. Let me know. Perfect size too! View attachment 425173
I cut the stencil on my vinyl cutter. Was a total pain to weed that thing. It's too bad the gold paint bled the black. The edges were nice and sharp before I sprayed the gold.
