What are the best 1:1 electric cars available right now?

The ONLY 1:1 I’d consider… and that’d be AFTER jerking the anemic Vdub flat-4 out in favor of a giant fully operational DC motor out back complete with a massive “Slot Machine” or “Revtech” decal wrapping that can…

I’m just sayin…🤷🏻‍♂️🤩🤙

Not in my experience. I’m talking ‘60’s and ‘70’s. When a car hit 100K it was time to move on. Kind of a given. I’m sure there were exceptions of course, and I’m not talking about gearheads and hot rodders who had no problem maintaining and rebuilding their engines. I’m talking about the general population whose cars started smoking like a mosquito fogger with trashed valve seals and guides, broken piston rings, spun bearings, etc. Were you around in that era? It was most definitely a thing. And there is no way anyone can support an argument that today’s cars are less reliable. That is just total nonsense. The cars of today are far more reliable than they ever have been.
Yup, that's why I asked how old. Fair enough that most engines didn't last past 100k, and I was only born in 06. But I would say the reason most engines are considered more reliable now is because the materials are better. Seems like planned obsolescence is being designed into most engines nowadays.

Are you old enough to remember when every American V8 was a boat anchor at 100K miles? Today’s car, ANY CAR, is far more reliable today than they have ever been. You’re a mechanic I guess? Did it ever occur to you that maybe that’s why you see so many broken down cars? You’re hilarious…are you just messing with me?
And you really believe they’re all garbage, yet still hate the dawn of EV’s? Can they be any worse? 😂

You have no idea what I do, or what I know. That much is clear.
I respect you @Dan b and thoroughly enjoy your presence here on AF so I'm going to leave the conversation so as not to cause any unwanted issues between us man.

We can agree to disagree on our views with vehicles. Your experienced, I'm experienced. We don't have to have the same opinions brother.

I currently have 6 cars: 4 IC, a hybrid, and just bought my wife a Tesla Y. The Tesla is a ridiculously sick car, I think it used to be about $60-70k now sells for $46k. If you qualify, you can knock off another $7500.

My wife gets free charging at work, we have a free charger 3 blocks from my house (that's usually busy), I have solar and got a home charger installed too. So I basically drive for free, which honestly reminds me of when gas was under a $1/gallon and I drove as much as I wanted since it didn't cost anything.

Highly recommended.

Respect, and absolutely no offense intended. I just like to argue. Nice freaking shop, man!

I do remember when 100k miles was basically all we got out of our cars before they became more problematic than they were worth. Technology has helped for sure, as well as inflation making it necessary to get more life out of them these days. Once upon a time I wouldn't even look at a used car with 100k, now, I can't afford to look at anything under 100k miles!! After nearly 30 years working for the same company, the 1-2% yearly raises combined with inflation have taken that ability away unfortunately. I'm sure things will get better with another 20 million people coming north of the border..😔

I think threads like this would be fun to revisit in 10-15 years, lol. Really hard to say where things are going with EVs, but both Samsung and LG seem to believe they have come up with a solid state battery for mass production that will lower charge times, battery size/weight, and improve battery life. Samsung's is slated to go into prduction in 2027, LG says theirs will be going by 2030. Who knows what will end up working/not working, but I think its a very interesting time. EVs are the biggest change to transportation since Henry Ford's time.

Can I get the hook up on a new phone! LOL

I have seen lots of new science with batteries lately like the sodium based cells. I hope they do find a good method. Getting away from Lithium sounds like a good idea if the new solution is safer.

Ignorance is bliss..... right?

If it is a conspiracy then explain to me the highest mpg rated internal combustion engine vehicles sold in the US vs the UK......

US top earners-
Prius Hybrid- 57mpg
Toyota corrola hybrid- 50mpg
Honda accord hybrid- 48mpg

UK top earners (Not even hybrid.. wierd!)
Peugeot 208 1.5 Blue HDi – 71.4mpg
Vauxhall Corsa 1.5 Turbo D – 70.6mpg
Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI SE – 68.9mpg
Volkswagen Golf 2.0 TDI – 68.9mpg

But wait... "The US has stricter emissions standards! "
Well it doesn't take a genius to figure out that if your pulling more mpg your burning fuel MORE efficiently thus producing less green house gasses.......

We don't have these fuel numbers here for 1 simple reason....... they don't want them here...... fact.
Aren't you comparing apples to oranges here? The 3 US cars are gas electric. All 4 of the UK cars are Diesels. The tech between a Diesel and a gas engine are completely different. If you are going to compare US Hybrid then you should be comparing them to UK or Euro Hybrid.

He was comparing the most fuel efficient cars from each country, no matter the fuel type

I thought it was more typical Brexit result mentioning only diesels for UK.
In the EU, diesel is already practically banned for non-commercial use.
As of 2035 the plan is to ban the sales of both petrol and diesel cars.
