I’d Only consider a Tesla.
All the others suck. Friends of mine have owned many of them and the only ones they buy now are Teslas because they all suck otherwise.
The plaid is awesome! I know two people that own them longer than any other cars they’ve had. And they’re very wealthy can buy anything they want.

The plaid edition is bonkers for the $$$ compared to other sports car prices that can perform at that level.
My only issue is the looks of the car. If you want supercar performance you usually are also looking for that "look"

I have driven one of these modern McLaren cars and the feel is something special above your average sedan. The carbon chassis is really something!
Turbo lag is a real problem though. Some of the tight turns on the track I was literally just waiting for the power to come on. That wont happen with electric cars.

These people have super cars too. That they don’t drive. Garage queens. But they drive the poop out of the Tesla’s. They have way too much disposable cash!

super cars are 2-3 times the price or more and are precious. 🙄

really depends on what you prefer. The plaid is nice but expensive af and not something the average person can afford. If we're talking about the other models that people actually own then that's a totally different story. Vs the Mach E I'd give tesla the nod for performance but it basically loses on everything else. Both the exterior and the interior are easily better on the mustang mach e. Also has Android auto and carplay which tesla doesn't have. Lets not even talk about the quality of the ride, also better on the mustang mach e since it has better suspension.

Yep, I'd do the same.

I cant imagine a scenario where my beater is a Plaid edition but ya LOL

I think there’s 2.9% financing on the Y right now.

That's the weird part for me too. It looks just like any regular 10-year old Model S.

I was checking out Lucid, is it just me, or are they all basically the same car in different trims? Not a bad looking car, but essentially looks like most everything else out there. But, not an SUV anyway. Making any progress in your hunt?

That's why i used the Y as my benchmark comparison. There are several things in which Tesla really excels, not only performance, but pricing, efficiency and definately all the non-car typical gadgetry. But on most car typical aspects its on minimum acceptable level. Just slam a door in a BMW vs a tesla and it becomes obvious. Great respect for Tesla bringing mass production/scaleablity to a new level, but at the costs of what us consumers have grown accustomed to.

Nowadays most cars look a like. They all share platforms, little higher, little lower, different headlights.
Like with RC we also like parts of all models to be compatible.

That was the big appeal 10 years ago with Tesla... the price point was pretty reasonable. You would then talk yourself into it because you were getting the best EV on the market with amazing performance.

They just seem to be checking less boxes for everyone now that the rest of the market is catching up.

I think they could have really kept a stronger hold on the EV market had they released an revised body style like all the other OEMs do after X number of years. People always want something new and fresh. I don't want to go buy a new Tesla that looks like my neighbors 10 yr old Tesla. How on earth would he be jealous of me in that situation?!?!

True but maybe that's just us (as generation) thinking. Last 3-4 models of a iphone or samsung galaxy do look a lot alike too. True Testlans will recognize if its the latest highland or whatever edition too, just on tiny tweaks at the headlight or whatever.

Younger generations will see a car as a transportation gadget (as a service probably), while for us it's still part of our identity either external 'look at my fancy car' and internally 'really enjoying the ride' vs getting from A to B.

My wife sees them as a status symbol and she likes shiny things.
We also have a need for a large vehicle given my 3 boys will all be over 6ft tall :cautious:

Either I'm an anomaly or past the age of caring at 52. I drive a first gen xB, the opposite of cool or stylish. Function over form 150%. However if I were 20, I wouldn't drive it for free. Not enough power. So I feel like you've got it twisted a bit. Heck, at 40 I bought a 95 Tercel, green, with butterfly seat covers, drove that gem for 12 years. With butterflies intact, LOL. I truly don't care what others perceive as cool, status, ect.. best $1500 i ever spent on a car.

IMO, the biggest pros of a Tesla is 250kW charging at superchargers and the technology. I had free FSD for the first month, and it’s pretty mind blowing what it can do now. Their real advantage is they’ve been figuring out self driving for longer than everyone else and have WAY more data on how to do so.

It drives about as well as my 17yo son, which is pretty crazy. There’s lots of cons about Teslas, and maybe you don’t care about superchargers or FSD, but there it is.

The Hummer EV looks pretty good. The commercial is a bit off putting to me, just push the button or whatever the tag line is. But is a huge box on wheels, I imagine range isn't it's it's attribute though?

As worrysome as self driving is to me, such as system glitches or hacking, I think my biggest fear is the humans on their phones! LOL. Kinda glad I don't ride on two wheels anymore due to the distracted driving.

Not anomaly per se. I actually think those boxy scion xB's are really cool. If i didn't have to drive as much as i do for my job i'd probably drive some old sleeper.

Personally i got ruined by my BMW E39 back in the days, everytime i saw it on the driveway it gave me a happy feeling. I loved how it looked and drove.
A true symbol of all my hard work, all mine. Ever since looks became more important for me too, still not caring what other people think just myself. I don't think lucky crypto Lambo owners don't know that feeling.

Btw, as for cool EV SUV's nobody mentioned the Lotus Eletre until now. I assume it's available in the US too. If budget wasnt an issue, i'd go for that without a doubt. https://www.lotuscars.com/en-US/eletre
