It drives about as well as my 17yo son, which is pretty crazy.
Hey now🤔 is that good or bad?🤣🤣
A true symbol of all my hard work, all mine. Ever since looks became more important for me too, still not caring what other people think just myself.
This 100 percent. That's why I drove a jeep comanche that got absolutely poopy gas mileage, was slow, and was my first car. It was my truck, that I paid for, and it was all mine. I absolutely loved the truck, but after owning a crew cab now for just 5 weeks, I am wondering why I stayed with a single cab for so long.

IMO, the biggest pros of a Tesla is 250kW charging at superchargers and the technology. I had free FSD for the first month, and it’s pretty mind blowing what it can do now. Their real advantage is they’ve been figuring out self driving for longer than everyone else and have WAY more data on how to do so.

It drives about as well as my 17yo son, which is pretty crazy. There’s lots of cons about Teslas, and maybe you don’t care about superchargers or FSD, but there it is.
I agree with you but tesla has started opening up a lot of super chargers to other brands. My mach e is able to charge at lvl 3 super chargers right now for example. IIRC it's only level 3 and destination chargers though but it's nice to have that access. I definitely wish I had FSD :ROFLMAO:

I haven’t kept up on things the last few years. SUV preferred.
Well, I was looking for an SUV to replace the wife's car, and we considered an EV for a bit. The one we liked the most was the Audi E Tron series. I preferred the 8 series while she liked the 4 series. Both were within the budget, and both would work fine for in-town daily driving. The only way we were going to make the deal was as a lease. This way we are not tied up in the depreciation and battery life issues, purely seeing it as an EV form of daily transportation.

We also looked at the BMW EV SUV and Porsche Taycan as options. Of all of these options, the Taycan was quite nice but not the SUV build and it was also a bit hard for me to get in and out of; it's pretty low to the ground.

Of all listed, I'd go with the Audi if I wanted an EV SUV.

I believe this generation of GM/Chevy truck is the best. I have been thinking of getting one also.
Early LS motors are simply amazing before they tried to get all fancy with features. The truck itself is simple and works great.
I don't get the idea of making the trucks taller and taller where you can no longer reach into the bed of the truck. All the utility purposes are lost.

I have had my Tesla Model 3 for about five years now. Love it. Would buy it again. 🚗

The Model X is a bit big (and expensive) but it is my first choice if I needed an SUV. Wife doesn’t like the gull wing doors though. 🚙

Since I am thinking of going fifth scale, was thinking of getting a truck. I am thinking Tacoma though instead of Cybertruck, for multiple reasons. But this is out of topic for this thread. 🛻

Doesn't the state of California give you some kick backs for owning a EV?
I imagine there are more perks there...

For practical use, I agree. However, for looks, I'm taking a square body all day 😍

I would have to look up the specifics, but yes IIRC there was a federal rebate, a state rebate, and a few other smaller things like PG&E (utility) and EV lane toll stickers etc.

I forgot to mention, someone asked about home charger install - mine was more expensive because we had to upgrade the main panel too.

ℹ️ I did try to get solar panels + powerwall too, but after 8 weeks in, Tesla cancelled the install (said my roof was not compatible 😭).

Fair warning-
Research problems with that 8l80 trans they come with. Seems as if it is plagued with issues as well.
That is all.

Think you may be a bit confused or made a typo brotha. You thinking about the 4l60e/80e? The 4l80e is solid, but the 4l60e is about as bad as you can get. I've read stories of blowing up a 4l60e with a stock 4.3l v6

No Typo...

Your right. The 4L60e is junk. The 4L80e is great but the 6L80e is trash...

The 6L80e's are the ones we do like every other day in/around the 17/18 model years.

That is not what I was talking about though. They now have an 8L80 I believe that is new for the 24's. Early reports are that they aren't going to be great either.

I will add that I'm not sure what years/trim actually have that. I know there are a few different engine options in those trucks so I'm not sure which has it... thus me saying look into it.

Did I see 1/5th scale!? 😎

I have no idea how you all keep these models straight in your heads.

"I drive a Toyota truck.."

"Which model..?"

"The big one.."

... :ROFLMAO:

Been a mechanic for the better part of 22 years man. Was highly into cars for about 10 years before that. Reading car manuals and working on them with pops daily as a kid.
Our first project was a 100% restore on a 73 bug. I was 6 and the old man taught by me doing. So I got kicked off the right way.

I say better part because I took a break from cars for a few years and built barges.. love welding and wanted a different scenery awhile. Still did the mechanic thing on the side during those years.

When it's all you do, you tend to know crap. Useful or not 😂

Tell me how good the 4.0HO Straight 6 was in the jeeps from 1990 to 1998, I just need to hear it again ..

Do I ever miss my Jeep with that motor and the 5spd Manual.... FUN truck.

Oops, sorry @dure16 , I had to

Also from my post here: https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/battery-storage-for-6s-lipos.56532/post-825695

My co-worker is now closing in on 300k, about 11% battery degradation, original HV battery and electric drivetrain. One heck of a proof of concept. Ridiculously better than the electric cars of the 90's.

Heck my 94 jeep got traded off at 453k miles.
That ol girl spent her last 100k in the mud pits and on the trails. Spent half that last 100k on the Rev limiter. Not exaggerating. I put rod bearings in it at around 400k.
That motor was pulled and put in another jeep and probably ran another 200k.
Those early 4.0L motors were no joke..

The Ford 300 was every bit as good of a motor. The kings of reliability in my eyes.

Not anomaly per se. I actually think those boxy scion xB's are really cool. If i didn't have to drive as much as i do for my job i'd probably drive some old sleeper.

Personally i got ruined by my BMW E39 back in the days, everytime i saw it on the driveway it gave me a happy feeling. I loved how it looked and drove.

Btw, as for cool EV SUV's nobody mentioned the Lotus Eletre until now. I assume it's available in the US too. If budget wasnt an issue, i'd go for that without a doubt. https://www.lotuscars.com/en-US/eletre
I hadn’t seen the Lotus. Holy crap, that’s awesome AF!!!

Yeah, its a beauty and from what i heard it drives like a charm. Efficiency isnt the best though.

Ever since i clicked on the lotus website i am getting their adds everywhere. I must say I am happy i did, it's more pleasing than the adds i usually get.
