Well I broke the EXB today on a bad landing due to getting it tangled in a branch about 15-20ft above the ground. I overcorrected what would have been a nose landing and it slammed down on the right rear tire.

Broken items:

Diff bulkhead
Shock rod end
Shock standoff screw
Wing mount screws

Everything... all new bearings, new diff fluid en grease tomorrow. Motor bearings and shocks (including new oil) is next step. Also trying to make my own fenders (lexan ordered) and cover all unused chassis holes, including spur hole. First time I’ve completely disassembled and cleaned everything. Learned a lot?

I finally replaced the rear diff on my 4s Kraton, put some new bearings in, and put the old 120 esc back in. When I was replacing bearings I found a funny thing. My pinion grub was secure (tight and thread locked), but not even remotely tight on the motor shaft. I'm amazed that I haven't lost the pinion! I must have not been paying attention when I replaced the exploded slipper hub. This thing was super fun on 6s for a week or three, but the chassis and drivetrain just don't last when you start sending it out of the skate park like you're RC Dude81...

Had a noise I diagnosed, today it got louder, I had diagnosed incorrectly. Motor bearing is trashed. I caught it just before catastrophic failure. Stripped the grub screw on the pinion of course first. Luckily I’m mechanically inclined and have a wide variety of tools including some left handed drill bits I used to twist out the last little bit of screw remaining after drilled it out. Threads are still in tact ? Now I’m wondering do I order ceramic bearings for it or just a new hobbystar since its Less than 15 bucks difference. Bonus was trying the bread trick for the first time, it worked, but I used some stale bread and I think fresher would’ve made it easier maybe.

Looks like the inside one on the upper turnbuckle is off the ball already. :(
That's the rod end, not the turnbuckle. My pivot balls are worn down so the rod ends are loose. I installed replacement pivot balls, but then went back to the loose ones. They have more give and introduce less stress. Steering is fine for a basher.

Finished up senton build yesterday, and now thinking about next project... senton/typhon conversion to 1/8 gt on road Porsche :geek:
964? 993? 991.2???

What's all that stuff in the last pic?

Replaced an a-arm, sway bar link, and front bumper on the Typhon 6s. Put an EXB bumper on it.

Also put some Reedy 40mm aluminum fans on the EXB and hope it doesn’t overheat tonight. Used one on the motor and one on the ESC.

Cleaning my brushed motors with electronic spray cleaner....

Funny that in my survey with vet and RC users some don't clean or car to clean them...some do clean them....some just buy a new one since they are cheap...and then others have moved on the brushless... Strange the variations on the answers of cleaning brushed motors...

I'm cheap so I will clean them...

I retired my v1 infraction from drag racing and re-installed the center diff. I forgot how fun it can be in a wide open parking lot. Also hadn't ran rubber tires in a year and forgot how quickly they wear after a pack of batteries. Time to change out the hobbywing motor fan for a game changer.
