Granite what does this screw on the arms do?

so i stripped my granite down for a clean and noticed this screw that goes into the side of the arm but doesn't seem to anything, it just goes into a hole on the arm and doesn't connect to anything or hold anything in

BTW, that screw is on every mega 3 and 4s blx 4x4 arm. It keeps the hubs hingepin from sliding out.
