My Traxxas Maxx servo just went out. What’s the best servo I can get for under $35? I’ve seen some amazon specials, any recommendations?

Thanks for the quick response, what about the 2275 Sledge servo from Jenny’s for $34?
Doesn't the Maxx use a weird sized servo?
Yes.Doesn't the Maxx use a weird sized servo?
How much would you charge?Yes.
You have to buy an adapter to run a standard servo in the Maxx/Xmaxx. The 2085x is a bolt in upgrade but it's pricey for what it is imo... i have a nice used one with HR horn and link if your interested
Yes it is weird, it’s quite big.Doesn't the Maxx use a weird sized servo?
Give that a try. The price seems right. I don't generally go with Trax stuff. IDK.Thanks for the quick response, what about the 2275 Sledge servo from Jenny’s for $34?

I have the V1 Maxx, with a widemaxx kit. This is with my plow I madeMy apologies, I think you're right, it's odd looking:

This assumes that the video is for the correct vehicle (I think there's a V2 Maxx, I don't know what changed with that one).

But that 2275 Trx servo only equates to 25 kg at 6v BEC. FWIW. Shows up as a replacement part for the Trx Sledge.
A 35 Kg servo will serve you much better IMHO.
Like stated above The max doesn't run standard sized servos? Trax always does their own thing. Making it difficult for a simple thing like a servo upgrade.
Thank you for the details! I think you’ve got me convinced on what to buy! I’ll let you all know how it performs! The other thing is that the 2275 is slow. At 6.0V (the Traxxas BEC voltage, at least on the Sledge) it's .25 sec / 60 deg.

The DS3235 claims 0.12 sec / 60 deg, and 32 kg-cm, at 6.0V, so twice as fast.

At the same price, buying the 2275 feels a little tough to justify, to me.
Pair that with a proper servo like the AGF A73BHLW and your golden.
Some people on here really like the Amazon special servos but in my experience they are absolute garbage and not worth the money.
Slow, weak and cheap gears…just spend a little more and get a real servo.
The stock servo is proprietary to the X-Maxx and Maxx.
You can get the 2085x, which is a drop-in replacement for the Maxx and X-Maxx.
Or you can get an adapter and run a standard size servo, which is what I would recommend.
Traxxas does a plastic one, TRX7749, and you can get an aluminum one from GPM, Vitavon etc.

You can’t really compare the specs between the two. That's interesting, thank you. At $65-77 (depending on where you buy), that A73BHLW is roughly twice the price of the DS3235, but still less painful than a $100+ servo.
My truck has a 6V BEC, unfortunately, so the HV performance is not applicable, without an external BEC. And not everything lists pefrormance at 6.0V
At least according to specs, the AGF shows less torque, though still good speed (29 kg, 0.12sec at 6.0V), compared with the $40 DS3235 Pro (not the standard version) specs for 5.0V (31 kg, 0.14sec, at 5.0V). The Pro would do better at 6.0V, of course, though they don't list performace at 6.0V. I don't know how well everything actually performs compared with their claims, though.
It's a good option to know about, thanks!

Yeah, I get that a lot of folks are happy with them and don’t like my strong opinion about them.A lot of people on here run the Amazon cheapos, I have a lot of the red ones and I have never had an issue with any of them, some of them are over 3 years old at this point. The blue ones I haven't had the greatest luck with, the first one developed a dead spot after a few months of use and the second one just completely died on the second run.
You can’t really compare the specs between the two.
The DS3235 Pro is massively overrated, as are most „offbrand“ servos.
There are plenty of reviews on YouTube that show the DS servos don’t get anywhere close to 35kg.
The AGF, or most other name-brand brushless servos (which often are relabeled AGF servos), is going to run circles around the DS3235 Pro, at any given voltage.
And you can get cheap replacement gears should you ever need them, which I doubt.

Some people don’t care and are happy with the Amazon servos, but they must have never actually used a good servo or just don’t care about having good steering.
Again, the A73BHLW is much stronger and much faster than the DS3235 Pro at any voltage, period.
Yeah, I get that a lot of folks are happy with them and don’t like my strong opinion about them.
But that just doesn’t change the fact that they are crappy servos for any application that needs torque and speed.
I just don’t get people who spend thousands of dollars on the car, upgrades, motor/esc only to cheap out on the servo…the thing that actually makes your car turn…just doesn’t make sense to me.
