Which ultrasonic cleaner do you use?

Back to Vinyl gloves. And if no sand is inside the differentials don't overdo it with cleaning. Makes little sense. 😋

Not so impressed with my VIVOR ultrasonic cleaner. Bearings just don't get clean enough even after a number of cycles.

I have the one from Harbor Freight but I don't feel like it works very well, the timer maxes out at 6 minutes and it will only run for 4 or 5 cycles before it shuts itself off and things are still dirty.

Bought my ultrasonic cleaner on Amazon in 2017 and absolutely love it. The solvent is also important I use a solution of 50% water and 50% Simple Green Extreme Aircraft & Precision Cleaner with a few drops of Dawn dish soap. Works great on all RC and firearm components.

This is the one @WoodiE recommends.

I just use a small jar and acetone for the internals and paper towel and a hex driver for the case.
Do you just shake the jar once the acetone and internals are in there? And it gets all the old oil out of the crevices?

Thanks. Might have to give this one a shot.

Yes sir. It's a small glass jar with a flip lid. I just swig them around in there and that does a good enough job for me.

How do you dispose of the used acetone?
I just pour it on the ground outside and let it evaporate. Alternately, you can just put it in a flat dish and let it evaporate if you have reservations about doing so. Generally speaking, acetone is non-toxic and occurs in nature, so I don't have any qualms about it.

+1 for HF.

It works good for what I need. You can also remove rust with vinegar just make sure you give a bit of oil afterwards.

Anybody have a current recommendation on an ultrasonic cleaner? How big/liters is a good size? Do watts equal better cleaning?

From my limited perspective it really seems to be a simple matter of bigger is better. And yes. More power = mo betta.

I use the HF 2.5L and it works great.

Which looks very much like the Lyman cleaner at $174.

I don't about the power setting it's a vibration with a specific frequency and more power doesn't mean more vibration, so I'm not sure what to say on that. The HF and Lyman both have a timer and a heat setting (to warm the water). No power settings.

For the size you need to figure out what size stuff you are going to put in there. Nuts, bolts and small parts the 2.5L is more than plenty big. It's big enough that you probably can strip your chassis and fit all the parts in there at the same time except the chassis pan, wheels and electronics. But you could put 4 wheel in there or the electronics separately... but I wouldn't recommend put the electronics in there ever.

If you want to dunk a car then you need something much bigger; although, I'm not sure why you would want to do that. That will cost you some serious $$.

My advice (take it for what it worth, some random dude on a forum) is to get the HF cleaner on sale with a Coupon and pay like $45 for it. If you hate it, then it's only $45 and you know not to get the Lyman either.
