Arrma RC's
  1. Kraton 6s
Hi all

I own a Kraton 6s V1 from 2016, bought a used one a couple of weeks ago.

Now it looks like the esc is not working properly anymore. I use 4s lipo in total, 2x2s used lipo's and 2x2s new lipo's. The following issues occurred:

- LVC comes in around 3,75 volt
- this happens with all 4 lipo's
- esc is cooling, ventilator works
- when in LVC the red LED is steady and the blue LED flashes

According to my Dutch forummembers this looks like a bad ESC.

I was wondering if there are still users who own the BLX180. Do you experience the same as me? Is this normal behavior?

Or has everybody switched to the BLX185 or other ESC'S?

I personally would not run the BXL180, they were know for going up in flames. And as far as upgrades go I would look at a Max6 or Castle MM2/MMX.

Hi

Are these plug and play ESC'S?
You will have to change out the motor leads to 6mm iirc the escs come with some, at least my Max8 and MM2 came with some anyway. But it would probably be a good idea to pick some up and you will probably need some plugs to connect to the esc.

Ah clear, Thanks

But I run the red stock motor so no need for me to upgrade to more expensive esc

Is the BLX185 not that good?

For the price of a combo blx185/blx4074 you may have a max8 and ezrun 4274 ...

Even it's cheaper... Go for a max8 / 4274 ;)

An Arrma blx 185 system is around $110 or so from a kit breaker and the Max8 $175. I don’t know where the poster above is getting his price but in the US it is not correct. BLX185 is a good system for the money and perfect in the 6s Arrmas.

Nothing wrong with the red motor they worked just fine for a lot of people.

I only suggested the Max6 or MM2/MMX because for some reason I thought he said he was looking for an upgrade.

That's because there are no more 120's I guess. New old stock. Supply and demand. Who would buy that 120 anyway??? No reason to want that I imagine?
But a while back, if you had a BLX 180 that fried, HH sent you a 185.(150amp) under the 2 year warranty.
Nope it has been like that as long as I can remember.

Thank you all for your replies

Yesterday I resetten the blx180 and it looked like it helped. I could drive a little bit longer with my old lipo's. Also with my new lipo's. But not like 10-15 minutes per lipo.. That is impossible for me.

I drove my car full throttle on a sandy area, see picture. So could this be the reason why I have short runtime?

That Kraton looks like it’s in great shape, original body and tires are in great shape. The BLX180 lvc is 3.2 and can’t be changed. Does the car just stop with steering only? That would be your blx180 going into thermal protection. If it slows down, that’s lvc.

Thank you!! This was a used one and last weekend I already replaced all bearings, diff oils en some essential spareparts.

The car still runs but at lower speed, so it should be LVC that kicks in. But the limit is around 3.7v not 3.2v

Before I resetten the ESC I had very short runtime especially with the old lipo's. With those I could only drive like 1-2 minutes before it went into LVC again. Yesterday after resetting I finally could drive much longer. Did not use a timer but definitely longer then before. But not higher than 10 minutes...

My old lipo's: 2x2s 6000mah 30c
New lipo's: 2x2s 5500mah 50c

So, I once had a friend who charged his batteries in storage mode and wondered why he wasnt getting much runtime... just a thought i had to check how your charging batts. =P

That kraton does look in great shape! better than a sad abused notorious i recently bought cause it looked like it needed some TLC and a new home.
