The red wire is always the same -so wire the balance power plug that way ..but solder the black on the 4th pin over for 12volts for the fan

You can start at either side really, will just dictate which side is your ground and which is your hot. I usually start with the first black wire whenever I'm wiring a pack up. Each wire goes between each cell in the pack.

So, if you start with the black one on the end as pin 1 as the negative, then the next you choose will be your positive.
1 -> 2 = 1 cell = 3.7V nominal
1 -> 3 = 2 cell = 7.4V nominal
1 -> 4 = 3 cell = 11.1V nominal
1 -> 5 = 4 cell = 14.8V nominal
1 -> 6 = 5 cell = 18.5V nominal
1 -> 7 = 6 cell = 22.2V nominal

So, if you have a 12V fan, you would want 1->4, 3 cell, 11.1V nominal I would think.

And, of course, on your 4 wire fan you only need to connect black to black and red to red. The others are the PWM and tach signal wires which are of no value to you.
