Need more info, don’t know what this means. Are you trying to ask if you can run the max 6 with any kv motor? They have guide with motors that will be acceptable and what kv range for what voltage levels..
I want to run the max 6 on 6s on 1730kv and the manual says it has to be less than 1500kv. Does it matter if I use the higher kv motor

I’ll be damned, it does say that.... I have a max6 running my 1650kv 4092 motor and it’s fine 🤷🏻‍♂️ I also see a bunch of guys doing this with their 1730kv 4092 motors 🤔

Yeah exactly I wanted to run 1730kv bevsue ive seen so many people like rich duperbash run it

From my experience HW has a hardcoded rpm limit based on input voltage. The 1730kv motor will run fine, yet max rpm (if max amp load has not been reached yet) will flatten out at ~38k rpm
Ahh ok thank you, I will probably just run a 1480kv

I run a max6/1730 on my talion and typhons, and had it on my kraton too til i shifted it over to the talion. No issues from mine. I geared it 24/46 so it was plenty fast for me. Hit 62 on my gravel road on the 1480.

Which is Better in your opinion ? 1730 or 1480

I run the 1480 in my outcast and kraton since they run the bigger tires, and the 1730's in my talion/typhon/truggified typhons but i'm sure the 1730 would be fine. I was doing a speed run with the talion on my gravel road too but it went into a wheelie and veered off the road and into the ditch hahahaha.

Is the 1480 quite torquey

Standing backflips for days... both of them will do it if you get on it too fast in my experience.

Ok thanks bro, I’ll go 24 teeth pinion
You'll need the 46t spur or a bigger motor mount. Stock one likes 22 or so and you are pretty much maxed out.
My notcast mid flip with the max6/1480

Guys - keep in mind the kv limit is based on a 5892 sized motor which is huge compared to a 4092 motor. You will be fine with your 1730 kV 4092 motors - heck the MAX6 combo is a 1650 kV 4985 motor.

I had this thought it my head too. Also, I’ve never ever had heat issues or anything with my max 6’s.. only the motors that are going balls out that are hooked up to em 😂🤣

Ignoring the kv restriction will not make the esc explode or hurt the motor. But not because it's been advised for a bigger motor. An esc has no clue what motor it's controlling. The max6 will cut off the max rpm, which some motors need to reach their full potential. Practically it will lose rpms under load anyways, so up to like 2000kV you won't notice the difference.

Ok thank you very much

The Max6/Max5 manual does state the 1,500kv limit is maxed on a 5892 sized motor, which I find odd given I thought it would be related to switching speed between phases. That must be related to amp draw as well, so I think you are fine given the stock electronics come with a 2050kv 4074.

2050kv at 24v = 49,250 RPM
Under load even fully charged 6S by the time it reaches the motor the voltage will certainly be lower. Let’s say 22v so 45,150 RPM for a 2050.

Using 22v just for a rough idea of what 6S RPM might max out at for different KV ratings.
2050kv=45,150
1720kv=37,840
1650kv=36,300
1500kv=33,000
1250kv=27,500
1000kv=22,000
800kv=17,600

I don’t know if this is anywhere close to reality or what the effect of a larger volume motor is on the speed the ESC can switch, but this is why you need to gear up with a lower KV motor, because that literally means that motor spins slower at the same voltage. You get more torque but at the cost of RPM.

Weight is a huge determining factor here. When you upgrade a stock truck and add weight to it, especially rotating mass from the wheels and tires to the motor itself and everything in between, you need more torque to move it without overheating and must go lower KV or lower gearing to compensate.

Ah ok thank you man, im probaly going to go with either 1730kv with 19 tooth pinion Or 1480 Kv with 22 tooth pinion
