Might as well make the best of this quarantine: Time to redesign my office/workstation in my home basement.

Sooooo... I had to cut my wall at 40” from the concrete floor due to damage created by previous owner. Upon removing the drywall, I noticed there was no wall insulation sandwiched between the drywall and concrete wall. Purchased mold-resistant drywall and appropriate wool insulation. Installed everything. Mudding the joints is next (such fun awaits me). Floor is poured cement which I’ll be installing laminated flooring after painting the ceiling and walls to my liking.

Moving along...

Room dimensions are roughly 14’ x 12’. I already have a Mastercraft workbench which I plan to keep, but looking into designing another workbench using a 6-foot profiled countertop which will be placed against the wall. Above that countertop, I’m planning on installing a pegboard. Shelves for sure... maybe a wall-mounted tooling cabinet fom Lowes or Home Depot. Room is strictly for my RCs, 3D printing/designing and firearm maintenance so, no, I won’t be blueprinting engines or any other heavy duty work.

I’ve been Googling images on workbenches/stations a lot lately. Trying to get ideas. What kind of work areas do you guys have? Pics and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have an old table from a comunity hall, one of those tables with the folding legs. It's 8 foot by 3 foot. I love it for it's size and space but I have to reinforce the middle as the table flexes a bit when I try to hammer something or put weight on the table. I also drew three different designs for a self system I want to build. The shelf I designed has an area for my testors paint and can hold 250 jars of paint on a slight angle so they slide out easy. Also an area for my body spray paint cans, also on an angle to slide out easy. I have an area for all 4 sizes of sorting boxes. And then plenty of storage cubes for tools etc. I just need to get some plywood and have a weekend to myself to cut all the pieces and build it. I recycled an old dentist light and coverted it to super bright led cob lights. I live in a small apartment and all this is in my living room lol.

My dining room is my RC shop.
Dining room table covered with Rubber tool tray liner is my main working and assembly table. I have a vice I clamp on to if when needed and do my soldering there also..

Mastercraft bench is higher up and I use it when working with messy stuff like diffs and shocks. Its drawer holds specialized tools not often used and general parts for wiring.
I don't really use the pegboard much but do plan on getting some larger hooks. I have earth magnets on it to stick random metal tools to it.

Table behind is for parts. It usually has boxes of parts on it and I use to hold screw trays and such.
