Probably works with the proline xmaxx bumper too. either option also gives you a headlight bar mount. This was not my idea. I got it from a youtuber who stole it from a forum member somewhere.

Cut this section out and shape it to the kraton front bumper. or you can just cut straight across.

You want it to look like this.

These are the mounting points.

Use the longest and strongest screw that will fit
20200215_152519.jpg

Then screw it all together. It fits like a glove. 20200215_153117.jpg 20200215_153127.jpg

I also think more mounting points could be made using bent rod and nuts or possibly an x-maxx bumper mount. I havnt checked. these are the 2 theoretical mounting points.

If it proves strong, then its a success. Nice idea whoever thought of that. Good work doing it.

I'm going to play the devils advocate here. Just like to add, you have some pretty killer mods you find or create too!

You have a large Truggy where the front wheels "lead" meaning they already protrude the front stock bumper. This is a good thing if you are nose diving, pull the throttle to correct it a bit and let the front tires hit, grab ground, pull the back down and land. I know I've rode front wheelies a few times in my racing days hitting the whoops wrong. Those front wheelies saved me from a marshal.

With this bumper, its going to grab ground before the front tires. In your opinion, will this not create other problems like bending or breaking more expensive parts or more lid flips?

Not sure. this bumper sits really close to the body. My thinking is that it would save things like arms and shock shafts. I understand the normal thinking behind buggies and truggies but this thing weighs nearly 30lbs. Thanks for the input though.

If you look close you'll see 2 cracks in the factory bumper after 1 nose dive so I think the factory bumper hits sometimes anyway. the guy I copied also had the cracks.

This actually looks like it was designed for the Kraton instead of the XMaxx :ROFLMAO:

doesn't look too bad actually Traxxas part# ?
I'd personally get the pro-line one, which has a built in space for a light bar. FYI, it doesn't come with a light bar.

I'm sure you could add some spacers to keep it off the body more so it doesn't sit so close.

Props to you for showing us this mod. I completed it today and like you said, it fits like it was made for the Kraton. Just like the 6s model, the K8 needs a bumper to protect the front a-arms and lower shock mounts from direct hits. This is strong enough to help protect those areas without sticking out like a shovel creating more damage.

Thanks for this, think I'll give it a try. For this mod, what size screw did you find worked well?

I wanna say it was between a 4x12 and 4x15. Could possibly go up to a 4x18? not positive

Old thread. But, to anyone who did this how is it holding up and did make any changes or added support?
