Kraton Xjeepguy’s Kraton build thread

So this is the first part of a long build. My Kraton is my go-to basher, and I love Baja Bugs, so here we go….

I started by ordering (by recommendation on here by Real_Name_Hidden, Thanks!) these outcast body mounts.

I first removed the rear mounts from my truck.

Then reinstalled them backward and upside down, so they are slightly taller and wider.

I then installed the tallest body mounts from the outcast kit.

This is the bug body I chose. Good ole ProLine.

After doing my usual horrible job cutting it out, I fit and trimmed until the rear of the body fit. This is what it looked like, keeping the maximum amount of material for strength.

I then put the body on the truck and marked my body posts with a black marker before drilling the holes.

I had to trim the swivels on the rear body mounts to get them to clear.

And here it is in all its glory, awaiting a terrible paint job and a very short life of pain and suffering.

Well, I hope this helps somebody on here to build a monster bug, and I’ll post a pic of it post-paint.

No problem man enjoy make sure that you reinforce the back where it mounts. Shoegoo or something. Because it's pretty thin back there!

I plan on doing the whole body in shoegoo and drywall tape. This things gonna need all the help it can get lol.

it's definitely not a thick body. Mine lasted about a month. But was worth it

I have that exact same body on my old ECX lol.

Welp, here it is, all painted up and ready to add some shoegoo and drywall tape this weekend. I’m happy with it. In case anybody is wondering, it’s Duratrax pearl lime and pearl white with a white backer.

Yeah, I knew a guy in high school that had one with a Porsche engine in it. It was bright purple/white with a heavy metal flake. That thing was a rocket. I’ve loved them since.

I’ve changed the title of this thread to what it is, because I have plans to build this thing into the strongest basher I can. I’m currently saving up for the Beefcake kit from M2C, and I have a few things I may machine myself to see if I can take it a step further.

Me too lol. Probably gonna take a while to save up and buy parts as well as design/fabricate some of the things I have in my head, but it should be pretty interesting.

Here is the next incarnation of my Kraton. Well, it’s part Mojave. I’ve been calling it a Krave. I’ll test run it tomorrow, and see how I like the long wheelbase. This is the test before I buy the M2C chassis, I want to see if I like the long wheelbase. Looks like a new body is in order…
