Hey all.
Been running D-wound 5694 800kv dual motors on the Xlx without issue for about 3years on multiple builds.
Xlx2 came out and here is where we are at with it. Same settings we use on the xlx. With the firmware update installed. Picking up the throttle wile coasting in neutral creates a drag brake effect till the throttle position matches wheel speed.
We have changed controllers, receivers and motors with no change. Filed the case documents with Castle. Wondering if anyone else is having these issues.

Two motors running off one ESC? Did I understand that correctly?

It sounds like you know your stuff and have already isolated it to the ESC. The questions is why is it acting this way assuming drag brake is disabled.

Is that the SSS motor? Is it a 6 pole motor? I don’t see any mention on Castles website about motor pole settings or limits, so I’m unsure if that is your issue or not.

All the TP Power 56 and 58 mm motors are 6 pole also, so I doubt the pole count is the issue.
Id love to see a picture of the setup/wiring if there are 2 motors in there connected to one ESC.

It says the video is unavailable
@The Donut Man Video Should be good now.

Hooked up an 850kv Y-Wound 4pole motor and has the same issue. Less aggressive but still a problem. Coasting in Neutral, while picking up the throttle the Esc has a light drag brake.

Delta 800kv 6 pole.

Giving it some extra throttle dead band and have the throttle curve some extra input on the low side (like 30% throttle on 5% input) would have the motor pickup faster. It does coast on neutral so all you need is to have a bit more ramp up to decrease that pickup dragging. If it gets to punchy on start, slow speeds add some more punch control.

With the XLX we have 9 similar setups running the throttle map linear without issue. Going to implement your suggestions but one at a time, starting by opening up the dead band and see what happens from there. Thx for the suggestion.

Been in contact with castle support from the beginning. Offered to send the setup for their engineers to study. Did not accept.
Answer so far is, "We have been testing with D winds and 6 pole motors recently. 6 pole motors are showing some odd things. Please try the Y wind you have."

Popped In the Y 4pole 850 with similar results. Waiting for response from Castle.
