As short as possible. The real problem is when you adjust the length to fit a certain lipo. Then get for example two 4s CNHL lipos with short cables and nothing fits.

So I like to use 8mm connectors on the ESC without shortening the cables on the ESC. For example QS8 and hammer them out of the plastic. Raz has a video on that.

Then go from the 8mm connector (socket and plug) to the two XT90. So if you ever have to adjust some length or buy lipos with EC5 you just solder the part to the connectors and don't need to remove the ESC in order to solder. Just change cables when you change lipos if necessary. (I have EC5 on the Super Baja Rey and use the same lipos on the Kraton 8s (QS8 connectors) and adjust via 8mm connector.)

Where the yellow circle is you use 6 or 8mm connectors. So you can adjust the rest of the cable according to exisiting batteries. Use heat shrinking tube to fix for a more permanent fit. If you ever use the ESC in another car you can adjust the cables a lot easier using 8mm inbetween.

If you use capacitors add about 220µF per 10cm cable length. At least two parallel. Here an ESC and capacitors on a 12S printed jet (120mm EDF) for the long cables to the front. On a basher car you must check if all is connected after each driving session. Too much hassle.

I did have 6.5mm bullets under that heat shrink. But with this application the mmx8s short wires will be long enough ..

I personally have not. Only non OEM upgrade I have done RPM Hub carriers and the WFO Receiver plate. When I do plan on upgrading the motor it will more than likely be a M2C or WFO motor mount. Currently eyeing the m2c hub wide kit.

As far as pinion goes can’t go wrong with Tekno or Robsinon Racing. Currently using a 20t RR with the 50T Traxxas spur.

I know WFO makes some nice ones as well.

That is exactly why I want to get it as well
Keep an eye on the lower pins with the rpm front hub carriers, I've had them on my X since new. I thought my steering servo had gone rogue since the truck hasn't been steering well for quite some time, say 6-8 months..turns out the rpm hubs twisted and the lower pins were out of place..guess the rpm plastic is too flexible. I've switched back to stock for now, steering has greatly improved since. Many recommend the TRX upgraded hubs over the rpm, now I know why.

I’ve never had an issue with the rpm ones, hmm, good to know! I didn’t even know trx made a hd carrier

I switched mine to the hd d Traxxas set. I do use the rpm hinge pins though.

I remember watching a video of a YT’er that had issues like you were describing. When I bought the Xmaxx I bought the Traxxas upgraded hub carriers in the front and the RPM ones in the rear, but I will keep an eye out for it for it regardless. Appreciate the insight as always.

These are the ones I have in the front.

Yup.. I didn't do my research first, well not enough anyway. I knew the skinny bearings of the stock hubs were suspect, but didn't find out about the rpm shortcomings until I already bought them. The rpm rears have held up fine for me. I have the 7737x in a cart online somewhere..🤔🤣🤣
..
My brother and I did a little bashing on Thanksgiving day..bad idea..🤔😁🤣
I've done some cleaning on mine already(green) his is as he left it here at my house. Think mine had more mud on it due to the Baja tires I was running.. also ran my sct410.3..ughh..the chassis was literally full of mud. Didn't take pics of it though.

That’s looks like a lot of fun right there. Great that your brother enjoys bashing as well!
