Do we have to buy lipos now and stock up on components?

As far as I know, things are normal in the world of LiPos.
Maybe you need to look in new places? Shadow hobbies just got 400+ Onyx Lipos in.

These are top-shelf lipos that are not necessary for a basher, but shows they are still producing and shipping them over. There were some shortages last year with SMC and some other brands but had more to do with behind-the-scenes business arrangments and not specifically the government or factory issues.

I will say the costs to get them into the USA is outrageous which could be part of the problem.

Lipo battery production always goes in waves. I used to have similar problems waiting for batteries for my rc planes, but just got used to it. It's a lot easier now but sometimes still happens. I think sometimes there are just unexpected high demands for popular items and they have to play catch up.

As for the rest of the crap, stop watching the news, you will live a happier life.
