Arrma RC's
  1. Outcast 4s
I've taken my new Outcast 4S out maybe 7-8 times. I noticed today 20 minutes in that it didnt feel as powerful as usual. It went downhill from there, a few minutes after feeling noticable power loss the truck started grinding heavily and had even less power like a gear wasnt contacting what it should be to put down power. Reverse works fine, everything looks good visibly...This is my first RC truck in about 10 years from a Nitro T-Maxx so I'm not sure where to even start. Tried to attach a video but it says "not an allowed extension" Thanks in advance

Link to hear it

Slipper clutch could be seriously loose. Check the pinion/spur gear lash.

I've been googling how to adjust the slipper clutch on the outcast and I cant find anything. I learned the center driveshaft is spring loaded and I have that removed but the tool provided doesn't fit like the video I watched to roll it forward/backward to tighten or loosen it

Well I took the rear diff out and this is what I found. Complete BS for a new truck that's barely been bashed. It hasn't even been airborne yet..

Wow, I had exactly the same issue as you, but unfortunately only after the 3rd time I ran it, and with my kraton instead of a outcast, but they share the same internals. I contacted horizon hobby and my dealer and they agree this shouldn't happen. I'm still waiting for my parts to arrive (under warranty) to fix it.

Horizon claims it's probably being cause by a seized bearing, but I checked them all and all spin freely.

Also check you center housing of your clutch!

Wow yep same exact issue. My bearings spin freely as well. Seems like its warped from extreme heat

Not sure what the issue is, but it seems like either the motor is warming up the dif/clutch or the clutch is overheating. I had very limited slip on my clutch and didn't "gun it" that much that that it happend.

I ordered myself the parts last week (still waiting on my dealer to supply my warranty parts)and got them in and did a small bash today, and did some temp. measurements. It seems that the clutch housing is getting about 45 degrees Celsius as do the motor. The link between the clutch and the dif gets about 42 degrees Celcius. Not sure if that is that hot that it would meld stuff.

Hmmm yeah not sure, it's hot here in Texas so it could be a combination of everything. I ordered an aluminum differential yoke housing from hot racing so hopefully I wont have the issue again

My Arrma care package came quick. Great customer service and no questions asked
Wow sucks that that happened but kudos to Horizon for making it right.

After 1 run on the new rear diff assembly. This is ridiculous for a stock brand new truck. I'm going to try to swap trucks or return this thing.

Man, that sucks. Mine still seems to be okay after a couple of light bashes, but after seeing this I'm pulling my diff just to check.

Did you check temperatures after you noticed? I take it it was grinding again?

Did you reuse the old bearing?

No, I replaced everything with the warranty parts supplied which included new bearings. I have my new Outcast now and we'll see if the same thing happens. If it does, im just going to order the aluminum rear yoke instead of dealing with getting the truck refunded because I like it too much.

Use real bearings. The stock ones are really cheaply made.

Same thing happened to me yesterday... Def bullshit
