Good day, comrades!
Since I can produce some customs I decided to start Outcast 8S EXB building log. Nothing special I suppose, but I hope it will entertain you a little.
Roller versions of Arrma models is a great chance for me to gain knowledge and skill during the thrilling process of design and production.
Here is my brief description of the completed tasks and something has to be done to make this hog move fast and crush obstacles without being destroyed.
Without any doubt the electronics is a crucial part of any RC. I decided to push in ZTW BeastPro 300A ESC pared with TPPower 5670 800KV motor because I didn’t want to get slow speed waddling snail in the body of the beast.
I’ve already posted a thread about my experience of soldering TPPower connectors. Huge holes at the back of the motor will be plugged with polyurethane foam using M3 stick tape to prevent winding from dust and debris.
ZTV arrangement inside the chassis was quite an intricate story. It turned out such kind of a hulk requires plenty of space. Short chassis of Out made the process of decision even worse.
An adapter was cut with CNC milling machine from 4 mm carbon fiber plate to adjust this bulking ESC to stock servo mount rack. Looks like a behemoth on a jade. Shell suits quite well and there is even some space between roof and ESC fan grade, though another adapter for replacing high stock 60mm stock fan to 40mm Rocket is needed to get more space above to keep ESC from bumping during a bash session.
Central differential has some wobbling along the shafts which irritated me with every slight shake of it. To keep nerves in good condition and for better contact between gears two shims 8x16x1, 18x24x1 were made from polyamide using my manual lathe.
Well, technically every part of the rig is ready to blow up snow piles but, as noted before, «roller» means «custom» for me. Just to make ESC adapter is a drop of honey in a barrel of pitch, so, a front bumper is in production. To prove my intention there are photos of several 8th scale Arrma bumpres.
There won’t be many differences in 5th scale. Slightly bigger, slightly thicker, that’s all. All schemes and materials are prepared. Just time is needed to make it real.
Let’s call it a day! More news is coming!
