Clear body color ideas?

I’m getting a new clear body for my Maxx for Christmas, any recommendations on paint? My lhs Carrie’s Tamiya and Traxxas polycarbonate paint, but I wouldn’t mind ordering. Blue/green accents, I was thinking maybe a metallic grey. Thanks!

Tamiya Gunmetal looks pretty cool (PS-23), be sure to get the PS version of Tamiya paints.

If you want to do two-tone, maybe do some details in TRX Brillant blue.

Just my thoughts.

Here's an example of the colors, I sprayed the blue on first then backed it with the grey.

Spaz Stix color change paints, my LHS carries this brand.

This is a dish soap paint job with Gold/Orange/Purple/Red then Duratrax metallic blue. The camera really does these colors no justice.

Another dish soap paint job with Spaz stix Gold/Orange/Purple/Red then silver.

Spaz Stix Gold/Orange/Purple/Green. I think this would help accent the blue/green a arms.

That gunmetal is lighter than I thought it would be! Thanks for the example.


@slick2500 thanks for the idea, I don’t love the color change with the green arms though. If I switch to black I’ll look at a color changer though! I love the hatchback.

All it takes is some RIT dye to go back to black.

I went with Tamiya Gunmetal and Metallic blue. (PS-23 gunmetal, PS-16 blue). Started masks and some masking of my own. I’m going to do the roof with the blue and back it with grey. There is also a small stripe near the bottom I’m doing, that starts below the window, about halfway along the side bottom. I am masking all the way around the outside edge because the overspray film was ripped in lots of spots.

Final product! Not too bad for a first paint job in my opinion. Definitely learned lots, and I need to use a different tape to get better lines. Tamiya gun metal and metallic blue.
