I searched and searched but the threads I’ve read didn’t answer all my questions. So here I am.

I just installed a Max6 and 4985 1650kv in my new Kraton EXB. Yes… I know it’s been done before. But wait…

I ditched the stock dboots (6.5” diameter) for belted Powerhobby Raptors (5.75” diameter). Haven’t decided on pinion count just yet. From what I read, 20T would be a good starting point. But because I’m running a smaller diameter tire, I was thinking 22T to compensate. Do I have that right?

How would one know what SAFE temps the motor and ESC should be running at? What is the maximum temp? Are there telltale signs that I should look for while running?

Please educate me. TIA.

I think going up to a 22t would probably be fine, you could probably even do a 24t like RNH said. Do keep in mind though those belted tires are typically heavier than non-belted which plays a role in temps. They say you don't want to see your motor over 180f, personally I try to stay below 160 but poop happens.

My K6S EXB 20T pinion same motor/ESC you have been sweet on Backflip LP tires. So much power there I'm cool at 20T, and the heat is balanced well with motor fans
