Having trouble keeping the binding between DX5C and SR6300PM receiver

Hi, I can successfully bind the two, but the problem is when the battery is disconnected, it loses the bind completely. If I turn the ESC off, but leave the battery connected, it does not lose binding. Any ideas?
Adding to that, the ESC flashes red after the battery has been removed and plugged back in. It will stay this way, until another bind sequence is performed.

You’re probably just accidentally moving the throttle trim knob.

That’s not it. I removed the external BEC, to see if that changed anything and no dice. Had just the ESC and servo hooked up to the receiver (reconnected red wire), just to rule that out. Guessing I might just have a bad receiver. Going to test it with a NIB 3 channel later, just to see if that will stay bound and then call Spektrum if it does.
