I have a 550 Mega I upgraded to brushless a few weeks ago. It was running fine until I changed the motor mount/slipper gear housing to the BLX housing and a 3rd party plate. Now, running tonight it seems to run fine, if a bit loud at really low throttle and then gets loud and slow at higher throttle. It runs fine when in the air, but gets way worse on grass.

Any suggestions? I'd rather not switch back to the original all plastic housing.

Probably bent the motor mount plate, and your Mesh is all jacked up. The slightest impact can tweak this plate. M2C is the best alternative for these specific related parts. No, not cheap. Far from it. PowerHobby soft cheap alloy, QC Fit can even be "Off", and can't hold a candle to M2C in this regard. Disassemble all again and look very close.
My 2 cents.
