Arrma RC's
  1. BigRock 4x4
  2. Outcast 6s
Just finished this build and decided to share it on the forum. Being a huge associated fan I have tons of parts for the original RC8B/RC8T. I love the way the Outcast looks so I wanted to combine the two.
It's an OG RC8B Buggy with truggy suspension and a spice of arma outcast. It was difficult at first trying to get the suspension right using those bigger wheels. After trial an error I used truggy rears (38 mm) with buggy fronts (29 mm) to get the shocks not to bottom out before the chassis. I wanted to stick with parts I had, knowing I could have bought different ones. Threw in a blx185, Russian unbreakable body, and made some aluminum pieces to mount the body post. Still needs some tuning as I have installed the factory team delrin 1.3x8 pistons. Running 70wt now but feels like I could go heavier. Anyways here is what she looks like.

So with a 16t pinion and max punch on 4s or 6s I'm getting bad cogging. Not sure why, never had this before. It's a brand new blx 185 system. I just bought a new max 8 2200 setup since I know those work fine. I'm kinda bummed that it's doing this. Anyone have any ideas.

What spur are you running? And I don't remember but does the RC8.2 have 43/10 gearing in the diffs?

43/10 and a 48t spur. Am I mistaking the 16t pinion is to big for these bigger outcast wheels.
With a 48T spur I want to say yes, the Outcast has a 50T spur stock. Basically the motor has to work harder to turn the 48T spur than it does a 50T spur provided the motor, esc and pinion are the only difference. So the setup you have is about the equivalent to running an Outcast stock on an 18T-19T pinion.

Yup, after reading up on the Outcast, the spur gear is the difference. Same ring and pinion. I'll drop it down to 14t and see how it runs. Thanks bro, this was driving me crazy.

Another thing I find is that with these race truggies often times the Backflip LPs work better that is what I run on my ET48.3.

I bought a set as a just in case they were to big. I'm still on old school skinny driveshafts too. That's really my limiting factor for big air crashes. Gonna see if I can make a set of the arma shafts work.

Ok, so digging through my parts I found some optional diff gears. Same 43t spur but a 13t pinion. Pic below of what it says. Would this make any difference and what is the pros and cons of it. They also look slightly more spiral cut. What I would like is to at least keep the larger wheels as it keeps the look and scale I want. So far I have ordered a 11 thru 15t pinions, a max 8 2200kv combo, and I do have a 52t spur but it may not fit due to size.

I'm not sure to be honest, I've never messed with changing out the diff gears.

I was just about to post. Anyways I did drop down to a 14t last night and the cog was a little better. I also glued my new bflp and will try them after work. I'm guessing those bigger wheels are causing a lot of strain. Then I will solder new 6.5mm connectors. And if all that fails then it's either a bad esc, which is brand new or I will put the new max 8 in. I don't want to mess with the diffs right now. Just want to enjoy it with my son. Thanks for your help. I'll update once I find the solution

I ended up with a 14t pinion and the smaller backflip lp wheels. No cogging and has tons of power. I kept the blx combo in and seems to be fine. I did just order the hobbystar 4092 1730kv and will see if I can run the larger wheels. It just looks way better to me.
Can the blx 185 esc run that motor. I do have a new max8 on hand just in case.
