hey yall. I want to start soldering got some old electronics to practice on but i don't know which soldering gun i should purchase. So which ones are yall using. Just need to know a good one. Thanx.

Its actually a hakko internals and let me tell you this thing is amazing. 10sec heat up and its heat loss is non existent which is what you want.

I have different soldering irons for different things, I use a Hakko FX888D for smaller gauge wire and connectors, and a Weller D650 300W soldering gun for thick wire and other high heat jobs. I like both a lot. The Weller is great, it heats up even thick 8 gauge wire in less than 10 seconds

Hakko is awesome. If you want something more portable then a TS100. I personally use the TS100 at 24v with modded firmware to heat up to 450 C. Also, for ease of use, use 63/37 to 60/40 LEADED solder and a name brand at that like SRA solder. A great solder makes all the difference. Poop solder will make you want to pull your hair out.
