What are these for?

Holding something while soldering???

It is for the Circlip that keeps the drivshafts/ input cups attached. It is included in the box with all 8s rigs last I heard.
And keep an eye on those clips. They do fall off. And generally not best to reuse them. They get weak. It might also be a production defect as some have stated. Have spares. When they fly off, it can cause damage to the other related parts during a bash.

Best to toss out that tool and buy a proper cclip tool. That tool that’s provided wasn’t strong enough in my opinion to remove or install a cclip.
