So I first got bit by the Arrma bug when I bought a Senton 550 Mega. A few weeks later after falling down the RC rabbit hole I did the brushless conversion using all factory Spektrum electronics. About 2 months ago I ended up selling that rig, but now I'm starting to miss it. Over the months I've become much more knowledgeable and I think I would like to try my first custom monster Senton build using a Senton BLX roller. However, I think I want to avoid the Spektrum electronics package, as I recently had the bearings go out on a fairly new brushless motor. Can you guys recommend some alternative brushless motor/esc combos that are budget friendly, I see quite a few on Amazon. I'm also really trying to avoid the cogging that's present in the factory system, and for that I know sensored is recommended. I found this sensored 120a Hobbywing Quicrun ESC at Amazon on sale for a pretty good price I'd just need to pair it with a sensored motor. Also what KV motor should I be looking at for a Monster Senton setup? I plan to run only 2s & 3s packs, and maybe something like 4S Kraton tires, or other MT tires. Thanks .

I have that ESC in a 1/10 onroad pan car so I haven't strained it much but it's been great. Also FWIW, don't be fooled by the Amazon discount, they're $46 all day everyday at Amain and probably others.

Personally with the bigger tires you're wanting to run I'd be looking at something a little beefier. Max10sct combo is quite a deal at around $140, sensored, and up to your task. HOWEVER, there's also better, more costly options if you so desire.

Thanks for the information! I think that Max10sct combo is right in my sweet spot for price range 😁

Idk if the Quicrun 10BL120 is up to snuff for powering a 1/10 4wd SCT, I use that esc in my 1/14 scale LC Racing EMB-T fwiw.

If you don't mind waiting on the slow boat from China.

The Max10 SCT isn't sensored.

Thanks Slick, you always provide some of the best information on here. I have no problem waiting on the slow, yet most cost-effective boat lol. I plan on taking my time and slowly putting this build together. I think that ESC & Motor combo should work out. After doing some more digging I did notice that the Max10 SCT was Not sensored, however I don't think cogging will be much of an issue with this ESC. What size (tooth count) pinion would you suggest?

The stock 3s Senton uses a 20t pinion iirc and a 3200KV motor, so I would say start with a 20t with the 3300KV if it runs too hot drop it down a tooth or two.

It was the temperature wire I was thinking of, which I abruptly ripped off the first time running it when the tape gave up and the ESC went flopping about along the truck.

Oh well.
Thank you both for the information...and the laugh 😂
