The product page for the BLX100 ESC states it accepts NiMH but the product page for the Typhon 3S V3 only states lipo as options. I also found a random thread with someone saying the newest BLX100 no longer accepts NiMH.

Can anyone please clarify this point for me?

Edit: I plan to use lipo but don't want to be handcuffed by the stock LVC setting. I'd rather use a lipo alarm in NiMH setting if it's an otion.

On Arrma RC Giga-Site it states 2s or 3s hardcase only.

With some cheaper ESC's you cant remove LVC or go Nimpack mode as a work around. Some of the older BLX series ESC's had Nim mode locked out.
Just use a lipo alarm alone. You set the Voltage alarm and bash. 3.4v or 3.7, or whatever you want. When it beeps, you bring it in to swap out a pack. Forget about the Nimpack mode. or when LVC decides to trigger. Use the alarm as your indicator. Or just buy an upgrade ESC that gives you LVC control.

Thanks. I agree on all points. The problem is that the ESC LVC cuts power at a higher voltage than I would set the lipo alarm, which renders the lipo alarm useless.

I’ve gotten around this problem with other cars by setting the ESC to NiMH mode. I want to make sure that’s an option on the Typhon 3S V3 before I buy it.
