Hi folks,
I met up with some buddies this weekend and rented a house in eastern PA, and naturally took along my crawler with me - the 1/10th scale Axial Capra I posted about before. It's bone stock except I replaced the tire foams with my 3d printed TPU "free-foams" (or "no-foams" as they've been called) to waterproof the tires better (and prevent having to disassemble and drain them of stank water every time she got wet). It's a great rig but it really needs rocks to play on or else it gets upset
I visited two different places with varying success - the first was Tobyhanna State Forest. Beautiful walk around the lake, but my goodness it was bland as all hell in terms of crawling. Or even hiking, really. A flat stone path in a circle. I do not recommend taking a crawler here unless you want to be bored out of your mind!
However.. the second place I visited was a blast. It was called the Austin T Blakeslee Natural Area, and it was killer for crawling. We received quite a bit of rain over the weekend but the trails still had lots of hikers, and a ton of water flowing across the trails into the river that runs parallel to the trail (and was full-blown rapids due to all the water levels rising). But for the Capra with waterproofed, vented tires? Oh boy, it was a blast.
If you find yourself in eastern PA and are looking for some place to crawl, this is where you want to go, hands down.
Anyway, enough talking, here are some pics from the hike. Hope everyone managed to get out this past weekend.
Cheers,
Geddy
