Kraton Don’t shoe goo and drywall tape custom painted bodies

The body came painted from the guy I bought it off of. I’ve just been using the stock red body. Went to shoe goo and drywall tape it tonight and it will ruin your paint job. At least I didn’t do the work I would be so angry.

Was it backed in any other paint? i always back mine when i'm done with a thick coat of primer to give a little more barrier between the paint and the elements. That being said i usually just gorilla tape mine where they rub and don't shoe goo any of them.

Bodies need to have a backer coat. Usually white or black depending. Looks like the paint was thin also. Maybe not dry enough. Bled right thru though.
Seems like the Shoogoo bled through to the bare Lexan. Odd.

Maybe the body wasn't scuffed or cleaned properly before paint work?

Not sure. Again. Previous owner did the paint. I’m just going to flex seal or gorilla tape the areas prone to cracking and call it a day.
