Arrma RC's
  1. Kraton 4s
  2. Vorteks
Hey guys hope everyone's doing good starting to get pretty serious into this whole RC thing absolutely love my ARRMA RCs but I also just received a crapload of parts for my Hosim xo8 which is the brand new model that doesn't have that drag brake so it's actually a kick ass little truck but I snapped one of the left a arms so they sent me an entire set of metal arms as well as new hubs so I've basically taken everything apart picked myself up a new little RC stand as well as a precision screwdriver set a new lipo charger the list goes on but I've ran into my first problem it seems as though they have put red loctite on the screws that attaches the a arms so I've got it all apart ready to put the new arms on but I cannot get these screws out for the life of me any tricks or tips for anyone I'll post some pictures any help would be greatly appreciated thanks guys

Hey, I would reccomend heating up that screw with heat if possible. If we can get a close up picture of what the screw is connected to that would be great!

All the polished parts look great! I would just reccomend to keep aluminum suspension parts to a low as they bend. I don't know if that would really happen on such a small light rig but no hard in trying them out. Good luck!

Are those cast metal arms? Almost look like silver coated stock arms? Could just be my screen. Heat always helps. Do you have a pic of the stuck screw?

Buy some stock a arms, metal a arms are for shelf queens, the first thing you clip and it will break off whatever the a arm is attached to.

Yeah, use heat. Tip of a soldering iron on the screw works well. And use quality hex drivers. MIP is the best. Do yourself a huge favor and pick up a set.
Does MIP make a phillips?

They look cast to me.

Okay wow talk about replies thanks so much guys I really appreciate it these are actually very heavy metal arms that hosim sent me directly from their factory They were in a factory sealed bag and everything I will take pictures and show you guys I also picked up two different sets of screwdrivers one of them is made with S2 steel which apparently is the best according to what Amazon said I got a great deal on them I picked up two sets and was going to see what you guys thought was better or if there was an even better set that I could buy money isn't an issue I don't want to have poop tools I will take some more pictures for you guys thanks so much for the replies
+1 on the Vessel screwdrivers. I've had my 4 piece ball grip insulated shaft set for electrical work for at least 15/16 years and they are as good as the day I bought them. Klein is another great brand.
I picked up a couple of sets on Amazon I thought they were pretty damn good but maybe not if you guys got a better suggestion please let me know I'll send these ones back and grab the better ones not looking to have any poop tools only looking for the best I just thought the precision set would be ideal since most of the screws and things are small on the trucks

I wanted the stock arms but hosim sent me these instead. But the new xo8 model is actually insane I tossed in a big 3S lipo pack and they also got rid of the drag break on the new model so it controls amazing this truck actually flies and takes a brutal beating for the price it's definitely a fun truck obviously it doesn't compare to my new one but it's hella fun so I just put one of the factory bags in the picture but they all came in those grayish colored bags with their label on it They honestly look like they're chrome dipped It's super weird I can't tell what kind of metal it is It's definitely not aluminum or anything like that They feel super super hard

For hex drivers, nobody is better than MIP. Pricy, but worth it. Whoever is number 2, the difference between them and MIP is like the difference between a Pinto and a Ferrari. But not everyone is willing to spend more for one piece than they can get a complete set for. I found Neewer to be the best of the cheapest.
Neewer - Set of 4 Hexagonal Screwdrivers Made of Titanium Nitride with Coloured Handles.Compatible with 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3mm Screws. https://a.co/d/eJTaN11

IDK, but the best Phillips screwdrivers on the planet are the Vessel drivers. They use the old JIP standard, which is a very slightly different contoured tip and they fit in the screw perfectly. If someone strips a Phillips head with one of these it’s user error, or a screw so firmly lodged as to never be removed.

I picked these ones up on Amazon today I bought both because it wasn't sure which one was better the one in the orange box is supposed to be S2 steel and the precision driver is also really awesome for getting into tight spaces but the other said definitely comes with way more bits and every single size possible it seems also a much nicer case both come with flexible shafts I've never really worked with small stuff like this I'm more used to bigger tools to do with tooling on CNCs and auto mechanics type stuff never really worked with a small hex and torques and everything so this is a bit new to me And when I was working on the CNCs the metals that we were cutting and using tools on was way different than all of the stuff that they're using in the RC world lol

Neither of those sets is going to be any good for rc use. I still remember the cheap Amazon set that I picked up like that the 1.5 was machined so bad that it just spins inside of brand new screws.

Really eh? Can u post a link for the best 1 u can recommend? Price is not a huge issue

Yep, I always said you get what you pay for when it comes to tools. And sometimes going the expensive route is the cheapest route. Sure, a complete set for $20 is great but if you have keep replacing it, it adds up. I've broken MIPs but I've never come close yet to wearing one out.
Because you are asking these questions I'm going to do you a favor and recommend you grab one of these pliers:
VamPLIERS 5” Mini ESD Safe Screw Extraction Pliers. Great for I.T., iPhone, Mac & PC, or Any Electronic Repair. Made in Japan: VT-001-5 https://a.co/d/6RBL7us
Or
ENGINEER PZ-58 Screw Removal Pliers Extractor Pliers (Combination Pliers), with Unique Non-Slip Jaws for Quickly Removal of Damaged or Rusted Fasteners https://a.co/d/2WseLu5

These are very handy for the stripped screws or those whose heads broke off. Designed to bite into the metal so you don't have to squeeze as hard and have a much better grab than vise grips. I have two Vampliers I couldn't live without, the one above and it's needle nosed version. If there is even the tiniest piece of metal to grab, these got it out. Screw extracter bits really only work with the much bigger bored bolts and screws. Waste of money for rc applications imo.
