Beautiful! My mother in law is a total hot air balloon freak. She’s been up several times, even after a couple of crash landings.
They are so cool to watch!

They monitor the wind direction.

Only experienced pilots are launching.

They have been doing this event for over 42 years..

Agreed. It definitely takes a little more faith to jump in a balloon and not have any means to control it, save for altitude. I’ve passed on a couple of offers for a ride, and will probably continue to do so.
Not a fan of helicopters either.
I love airplanes, though!
 
Sky divers in the air over my head daily as I walk the dogs. Gf and I are considering going up in the jump plane as they allow this for a fee but not jumping! Just to watch the experience from the sky.
